I read a lot of good reviews on here and that is why I purchased it. To be fair, I had two at home two compare to see what the hype was about. If this indeed is rated at 168lumens - I have no way to verify, it falls short of it.I have the two below to compare to.1) Energizer Trailfinder Pro-6 LED Headlight 2) yalumi LED Headlamps Spark 105-Lumen 90-Meter Spotlight, Advanced Optics, 1.5X Brightness, Longer Battery Life, Less than 2.7oz, Black/Black Strap The energizer is a champ as far as battery life goes - i'm still on its original batteries. It's water resistant. As far as lumens goes - it's pathetic at best. You can't even see what's 15ft ahead of you. It came with quality energizer batteries. I hate the five cycles. The yalumi has only 105 lumens and the cone is very focused to DELIVER that 90 meter distance as PROMISED. It is extremely bright and reaches the distance - something I require if i'm walking in the woods at night. The only thing lacking is that it's not water resistant. It came with quality energizer batteries. This only has three cycles. I'd rather it have only one: on.The Juligo head lamp is a quality built head lamp. Water resistant like the energizer but didn't come with quality batteries (off brand). I only compared this to the yalumi because the energizer is pretty much obsolete to me. The yalumi has some what of yellow lighting and the juligo has white lighting. Juligo does not reach as far as the yalumi. Juligo is not a focused beam while the yalumi is very focused - thus goes the distance. If you look at the yalumi, the cone is very dense looks like crystal. While the juligo's cone is like any ordinary cheap flashlight you can buy at the dollar store - like painted chrome - I bet you more than anything it's plastic with chrome paint - hence why it does not direct and focus the beam of light as well as the yalumi. I'm sticking with the yalumi even though it's not water resistant. Hope this helps anyone trying to find that "perfect" light!

Adequate for my needs
Just a few quick comments about this headlamp. Light is quite bright, low setting is actually bright enough for most uses. Each press of the button cycles through the various settings: High white, low white, red, blinking red, off. The red light is helpful in maintaining night vision, but having to cycle through the high and low white light to get to the red light will blind you anyway. It would make more sense to cycle through red first and have the ability to hold down the switch to turn it off at any point in the cycle. Also, why blink the red light only? Why not also blink the white light? The strap is comfortable, but tends to slip around on your head. The light tilts down, however, it doesn't tilt down enough for close work. And it certainly doesn't tilt down 90° like it says on the box. More like 45°. I'm not so sure about the durability of the plastic used, but it felt flimsy enough that I was afraid the latch would break when I opened it to insert the batteries. Speaking of batteries, I don't know if I just received a previously opened box, but the item arrived with the box opened and the batteries rattling around loose inside the shipping box. Usually batteries are shrink wrapped together to keep them from making contact. It came without any instructions other than some badly written "Chingrish" on the side of the box which wasn't even correct. "Software switch"? I don't think that means what they think it means. Ultimately, I got this because of its weight, which, when used with lithium batteries, is fairly lightweight. Not the best light I've used, but certainly not the worst.

Great for running!
I use this head lamp for pre-dawn running along a somewhat busy country road with narrow shoulders. I tried this *once* without a headlamp and found the job to be far more dangerous than I had initially assumed: each time a car came down the road, I would be blinded by headlights and the driver would be very unlikely to give me some space. Being that this is one of the only times I can go on a run, I decided a headlamp would be a worthwhile investment, but was concerned that it would neither stay on my head nor be bright enough to increase my safety substantially. Given these concerns, I also wasn't willing to dump a bunch of cash into a purchase.I found this headlamp (amongst many, many options on Amazon) to be perfect. It is bright, even on the 2nd setting (which is considerably less bright than the first setting). It is lightweight and comfortable, but doesn't budge even during my awkward, jarring strides. The battery life so far has been acceptable (more on that below). It has improved my visibility to drivers (who now frequently turn off their high-beams and give me space) while allowing me to consistently avoid mailboxes, roadkill, and other obstacles. I consider this to be a must-have item now.A note about battery life: while it is acceptable, it should be noted that when the battery runs out, it runs out fast! Mid run, I went from noticeably dimmer than usual to functionally useless in a few minutes. This was using the batteries that were packaged with the light, which others have reported to have poor life. I am now using NiMH rechargeable batteries and will report back on battery life.

Wow is this bright!
Bought for my wife to use at our off grid rustic cabin. Push the button to turn on and change modes. Has four modes.1st push turns on the high level bright white light. 2nd push puts it into low power white. 3rd push turns on the red LEDs. 4th push causes it to flash. It's so bright, someone will see it even from the moon. The bad: I wish the order was reversed. I'd like the red to come on first to protect night vision. If that isn't an issue for you then this is a great light. To turn it off, you need to cycle through the remaining modes. Not a big deal. My much more expensive one only takes one push to turn off after it has been on a mode for a spell. It only lost one star because the red light first is important to me. Wife not so much.I think it is an awesome value.
