You really do get what you pay for, at least with this floodlight from RAB. I purchased this RAB floodlight to replace a brand name (but made in China) unit that was malfunctioning after only a year. The older unit was triggering falsely and then staying on for hours at a time. Since it used halogen bulbs, it's electrical consumption was high.I purchased this RAB unit, based on the positive reviews, and couldn't be happier. I installed it myself with no problems (and I'm not particularly handy). The RAB unit comes with all the hardware needed and can accommodate any shape electrical box, mine happened to be an externally mounted round box. The RAB unit is more expensive than others, but it's quality of construction is exceptional and the instructions are very easy to follow. For lamps, I purchased two Hyperikon LED PAR 38 floodlights and they work great.The unit works exactly as advertised. There have been no false triggers and the lamps extinguish precisely at the time I selected after they sense movement. The dusk to dawn feature also works perfectly. It costs a little more than others, but you only have to buy it once. Highly recommended.UPDATE: I've had this unit for several months now and I could not be happier. It comes on when it's supposed to and shuts off when it's supposed to. Neither rain, snow nor wind has caused any false triggering -- couldn't say that about the made in China unit it replaced. Well worth the higher cost.

Extremely well made motion light. Have had mine several months now. Older stock does not come with bulbs and requires incandescent bulbs. These bulbs are no longer available as of August 2023 thanks to our USA government. However RAB now has LED bulbs available for purchase that work perfectly with this fixture. New stock includes these bulbs in the box. If you need to purchase these new LED bulbs, they run $13-$15 each.

Five starts feels so overkill for this product, but it seems to be working well a month or so into operations. Installation was easy and this was replacing another security light, but it does have the parts with it to mount it with existing box mount, but I'm sure it would be highly adaptable to different mounts. One that almost takes a star away, but not really, is to set it on for evening timer you need to switch the power on and off with some sort of count between (evening timer leaves the light on without concern for the sensor the first time it comes on for a set amount of time). I have this thing hardwired, so I had to run to the basement to do this set up. Not ideal. Still, there are only three dials and the explanation in the manual is easy to understand. I'm running flood LEDs in here and it functions well, is very sensitive as I have it set, and lights well a two car driveway. Aiming is a little challenging. Always that awkward making an adjustment and tightening down, and then having to redo it, because the adjustment is not really out in the open on the unit. But easily overcome. You can find cheaper or better, but this is a good value for the money

After trying to install another less expensive light which never worked properly I decided to try this one. So far it worked immediately after installation. Sensor is great picks up people fine but ignores the possum and my outdoor visiting kitty. The blinking LED's make lights look like expensive security system is installed. Hope these continue to perform well. They are well made and appear to be excellent quality. Best thing they are MADE IN USA not china. Super happy I invested in these lights.

I bought this to replace an existing security light that stopped working. I reused the existing junction box. If you do this, be aware that the mounting base of this light is a bit bigger than the typical "big box" store lights. My previous lights all had circular mounting bases and this one has a hexagonal-shaped one. To reuse your existing junction box, make sure you have at least 2" of clearance, measuring from the center of the junction box (where the mounting screw would attach) to the bottom of the eave or nearest surface above the light. Mine *just* made it. :-D If you don't have this much room, you might have to move the junction box or else remove some material from the eave to accomodate the base.Outside of that, it is no more difficult to mount than any other light I've had, and I've had a few. The "big box" store lights keep failing after a couple of years, I'm hoping this one will last longer. There is a mounting feature I really liked - the mounting bar for this device has a green ground screw right on the bar itself, so I didn't have to reach into the junction box with my somewhat large, thick fingers to attach the ground wire inside. :-D Very helpful.The sensor works well, gives 180 degree coverage. I have it mounted on the back wall of the house and when I approach the light perpendicularly from either side, as soon as I can see the device with my eyes, it "sees" me and turns on the light. This is at the max sensitivity setting and it is adjustable. There are numerous small animals around at night but so far it doesn't seem to pick up many of them. My last light was on frequently due to possums, raccoons, etc, but this one only seems to pick up bigger things.This light has an adjustable full-range day/night setting. When set for night, it only turns the light on in full darkness. But you can set it to day and it will turn on the light in broad daylight if the sensor picks up movement, which is very useful for making adjustments as well as turning the light on all day if you so choose. The setting is adjustable to points in between, so I have mine set to start turning on the light at dusk.So I'm happy with it so far. Hopefully it will last more than a couple of years, which would make it well worth the extra cost over the lights I've had in the past.

Can’t use LED with this and it doesn’t state that anywhere except by asking the company directly and halogen are terrible compared to led , its 2020 for crying out loud
