Should come with lock stud
The cutter works good but I belive it should come with the lock stud. If you have to by the cutter and lock stud separately than there is no need to buy this cutter with the ball head. I turned my original cutter into a ball head cutter simply by drilling a hole slightly smaller than the cutter in a golf ball and pressing the cutter into the hole. The only reason I bought this one is I lost my original cutter but I still had my lock stud. I give it four stars because it works good I just think it should be a cupple of dollars more and come with the lock stud.

Easy on your hands
I had one of these cutters with the ball grip several years ago, and during moves combined with falling out of reloading for a few years, I figured Iβd spend the $4 or so and buy the standard cutter. I mean, hey, I donβt need to spend the extra $4 for this cutter... about 40 cases into it I realized I missed the ball grip cutter and went straight to amazon to order one!Save your hands and buy this ball grip cutter, it is well worth it!The ball is the perfect size to easily grasp it, making long sessions easier by not tiring out your hands from having to grip the small standard cutter.

Simple excellent.
Used for trimming reformed 223 to 300 Blk. with strut bolt and appropriate gauge and Black & Decker electrical screwdriver. Makes short work of even sloppy cut of cases. This combination serves me well. The gauge stays with this cutter. For the 223 reloading an other cutter without the big wooden ball again with the appropriate gauge stays for that caliber. Both gauge come with a case holder that screws to the strut bolt. Lee makes good tools for relative low prices, but you need the right choices to make. The Lee precision trim die was not a good choice for me. The above described arrangement is the way to go. Simple excellent.

Quick and accurate
Lee Precision has a real winner with this product. I'm pretty new to reloading so the easier the better in my book. My friend introduced me to Lee Precisions case trimming system and it is so simple that it just makes sense. With a locknut, a guide, and a cutter you can trim cases to size in no time. This cutter is sharp and much easier to hold than the original cutter. Plus the system gets all the casings trimmed to a nice uniform length well within the guidelines for loading them.If you want the job done quickly and accurately you should give the Lee Precision system a try.

Reliable fool proof trimming cheaply.
I love these they're comfortable with the ball, the system works well and is all you need unless you're high volume AR shooting or Presicion rifle shooting. If you shoot or reload less than 100rnds at a time this well never let you down.So why only 4 stars, well the cutting head tends to get dull after 1000 rounds or so. Not ideal when you're making 300 Blackout from 5.56. But for less than $10 why not.

Cheap, simple and effective.
Nothing beats it at it's price. It is however slow. What I did to speed up the trimming process was extract the cutter from the ball grip and chuck it up in my corded Dewalt drill with the length gauge installed. In doing so all I have to do is stick the case over the length gauge power up the drill to a moderate speed and apply a little pressure to the case and in a couple seconds you have a trimmed case. With this equipment and method I get cases trimmed within 0.003" of my target on average. Every now and then they end up trimmed to shorter than that. But it's perfectly fine for .223/5.56 plinking brass. If you want to make match brass I might consider something else.

Much Easier To Use Than Original Cutter
I've had one of these for about five years and processed thousands upon thousands of pieces of brass with it. The original is finally beginning to show some dulling so this is a replacement for that. if this one is anything like the last one it will last a very long time. The ball is a huge plus.I'm to lazy to make my own but, remember, that this is nothing but a standard Lee cutter epoxied to a wooden ball. Easy to make yourself if you choose.

Great little tool for the price!
These little cutters along with Lee's case length gauges and holders are a marvel of simplicity. Low cost and easy to use, they work perfect every time. I chuck mine in my lathe but a cordless drill or drill press could be used.
