Heart & Shadow: The Valkyrie Duology: Between the Blade and the Heart, From the Earth to the Shadows

Good story but Hocking got a lot of her mythology wrong. Kind of bugged me, honestly. Definitely not her finest.

I've read some of her other work and it was just so-so, but I couldn't resist picking this up. I actually really enjoyed it. The characters are interesting and likeable and the plot is pretty good. The two things Hocking does that irritate me is that she explains things that don't need explaining (we're not toddlers). Also, she repeats things over and over. One refresher would be okay, but not twenty.
