Update- One of my better purchases!
Unfortunately, I seem to have the worst luck with tires and have at least one that goes flat weekly. I am sure this is due to the crappy city streets I have been forced to take to and from work daily for the past 7 years warping my wheels and preventing the tires from making a proper seal. As I cannot afford a new car or new wheels, airing up my tires every few days has become somewhat of a ritual. I was getting sick of having to drive to the nearest QT for their free pump and was sometimes damaging my low tires even more trying to do so. Finally, I researched several different compressors before landing on this one for both the great reviews and price...and I am so glad that I did! This thing is a lifesaver and has been put to great use! I've used it countless times with no problems whatsoever. I love that the connector screw on, allowing me to sit in my car while it does its thing and saving my poor fingers from frostbite in these colder months. Also, I was expecting this to take much longer than the industrial sized compressors found at most gas stations, but that has not been the case at all. This little beauty works quickly and relatively quietly (comparatively). I am also very fond of the pressure gauge which allows better precision without constant stopping to check the pressure. I often double check the reading against a standard tire gauge and it is right on the money each time! My ONLY qualm is the cigarette adapter, which is not quite as sturdy feeling as I would have expected. Regardless of this, I have had no issues with it and simply make sure that I only grab it at the finger grips and gently remove it when I am finished. As long as you aren't manhandling it, I don't foresee there being any issues with it breaking. I am very pleased with the quality and durability of this product. Should anything change, I will be sure to update my review so that all buyers can make an informed decision. UPDATE: Still going strong despite being used several times a month! This thing has been a lifesaver and I am so damn grateful to have purchased it when I did.

This thing doesn't mess around
I've used a variety of 12 volt compressors over the years, and the majority of them were close to useless. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about - your stereotypical roadside compressor that makes a ton of noise, yet inflates a tire very, very, very slowly. I spend most of my weekends in the country in south-central Texas, and as a result, end up with my fair share of slow leaks in tires due to mesquite thorns. Having spent an hour waiting for other 12 volt compressors to inflate a tire, I finally resorted to carrying an air tank with me that I could fill at home with my full-sized compressor. That was bulky and limited you to one tire's worth of air, if the tire had gone totally flat. So I decided to do some more research on electric compressors. Enter the Viair 00073. This thing is a beast, and blows away (no pun intended) any other 12 volt compressor I've ever used. The directions state you need at least a 15 amp outlet to run this thing, and given its power, that isn't hard to believe. That said, I've had no problems running the 00073 off my truck and ATV's outlets (though I've no idea what either are technically rated for). I generally keep the vehicle the compressor is plugged into running while this thing is powered on to keep the battery from taking such a hit. Performance wise, the Viair 00073 is very good. I've not done any scientific tests on it, but it inflates tires in a fraction of the time it would take other 12v compressors. It is also much quieter than your typical 12v compressor. As for reliability, I've owned this the Viair for over a year, and with regular usage, I've had no problems to-date. The built-in pressure gauge is a decent way to monitor progress when inflating a vehicle tire, but not as useful when inflating low pressure tires like an ATV or lawn tractor tire. Regardless, I'd suggest keeping a separate pressure gauge on hand to ensure proper inflation has been achieved. The supplied storage bag is nice, and is actually big enough to accommodate the compressor and its accessories without having to resort to a Tetris-style exact method of packing things in just the right manner. I'd have no reservations recommending the Viair to anyone looking for a 12 volt compressor that gets with the program.

Package arrived on time, the packaging was a bit torn from a corner. Started the Viair pump by inserting the power port in the cigarette lighter socket and noticed that it is silent than other pumps which I tested earlier, it fills small inflatable items such as football within 15-20 seconds. It is quite powerful and the build is quite sturdy. The power cord is long enough to reach all 4 tyres of the car. A must device to have if you are planning to go on long trips The only big which is a great drawback for this sturdy pump is that the scale which shows the pressure reading is incorrect. It reads ~50-52 psi for the actual tyre pressure of 30-32 psi. If one follows the scale on the device the actual tyre pressure would be off by 20 PSI which would rather damage the tyres and get poor fuel economy. @Viair why dont you get the entire device quality tested including the scale?

I bought this to replace a $20 Can Tire all plastic model that was blowing fuses and then failed completely after 18 months. I need a reliable pump for my MINI after I ditched the run-flat tires, since I don't carry a spare. This Viair is a massive improvement over the CT one. The main housing is very solid, the hose has that quality feel and both the hose and the cable are quite long - I can easily reach all four tires in my van without switching to a different lighter socket. It also seems fairly fast and, although not silent, is surprisingly quiet. Even the valve adapter is nicely sized and goes on and off with minimal air loss. And to top it off, it has a case! (I love cases)

A couple of my tires have a slow leak in them, and I got tired of the hassle of having to fill them up at the gas station, not to mention pay a dollar or two each time. So I decided to give this pump a try. PROS: - Compact size (for what it is), and the included storage case makes for a neat little package that you can always keep tucked away into some corner of your car - Very long DC cable makes it easy to reach all tires, at least on a normal sized car (not sure about larger trucks, etc.) - Good mechanism for securing inflator to tire valve (screw-based) - Relatively quiet when in use - Decent inflation speed (takes maybe 2 minutes or so to inflate a tire from 25 to 35 psi) - Built-in pressure gauge gives a reasonable idea of roughly what pressure you’re at, so you don’t have to check quite as frequently with a proper gauge while inflating CONS: - The built-in pressure gauge is tricky to use, since (a) it’s analog, (b) it’s not super accurate at the best of times, and (c) the calibration gets out of whack once you’ve started filling. So I really only use it as a guide while filling, and check final pressure with a dedicated gauge. CONCLUSION: This pump was an excellent purchase that I’m very happy with! It saves me a good amount of time, hassle, and even a bit of money, since I no longer have to fill up at the gas station. It also offers great peace of mind, since you can keep it in the car with you at all times, for use in emergencies. In fact, just the other day, I was driving along a very rough and remote logging road, where I came across someone who’s spare tire (yes, they had already gotten a flat) was very low on pressure. They were trying to inflate it with a small bike pump! This pump certainly saved their day!
