This is easy to maintain and holds up to heavy use
I've been using this buckler for about a year now and I've used it in I.33 sparing as well as against longswords. I have blocked some serious blows with this and yes, it dented and did bend once, but when someone is using a full sized blunt sword with two hands even armor can dent. This is easy to maintain and holds up to heavy use. The handle's rivets are slightly loose at this point, but really an anvil and a few minutes of hammering will fix that when I make the time. What I really like about this buckler is the nice flat shape is great for practicing I.33 as it's illustrated and it hangs on the sword comfortably if you're carrying it. One reviewer said it's heavy: mine is 2.63 pounds according to my kitchen scale and my Albion Kingmaker is 2.61 lbs, so as far as I'm concerned that's perfect. This weighs about as much as a good sized arming sword and so it balances out nicely in my opinion. The only thing that could be seen as a down side with this is that it can be hard to get an armored hand into, but frankly if you're using the buckler correctly this shouldn't be a problem. I don't wear anything other than a leather glove on my buckler hand so I have full dexterity with it and it's just fine.

This thing is heavy!
Bought for a costume, and didn’t realize this thing was meant to actually take the blows from a heavy sword. Thing has to weight like 10-15 lbs. it looks and feels great, but might be too heavy to haul around Ren-Fest, as was my plan.

Great Shield!
Arrived early and was securely packaged. A little heavy but otherwise completely satisfied!

A little rough but good for the price.
This is overall very solidly made. But there are a dozen or so little bits that are rather roughly done. Nothing a file, some sand paper, and a little light tapping with a small hammer here and there won't fix. The thing I like the most about it, is that the stand-off of the handle from the dome is enough to allow for pretty much any size hand and fit that hand with a gauntlet. The thing I like the least is that the edge is folded over instead of rolled over. So there isn't much of a lip for catching tips.

A real Tough buckler
How tough is this buckler? My sister who does Hema, SCA used this. She literally bashed this shield REPEATEDLY on her boyfriend's gothic fullplate. Hitting the chestplate with the edge of the shield, again and again. With full gleeful abandon. IT DID NOT DENT. It only got scratches on the edges and a bit of marring. The handles is solid steel that is riveted to the shield. It did not bend out of place nor warped. The only complaint about this buckler is that the wood slats that surround the steel handle can be a bit uncomfortable. The wood is sorta shoddy, the wood might not be of great quality and it might not be well placed. All in all, This is a REAL buckler.
