Incredible Fun for All Ages! Educational, Too!
This is a brilliant idea for a Wii game! I only wish there were more in the "Real Heroes" series, if it is a series. Once you get the hang of looking in one direction (with your wiimote) while moving in another direction (with the nunchuk joystick), the game is a breeze! There are about eight or so main missions, each broken up into smaller sections, and they are all quite clever and fun (although we've only played on Easy setting so far - not sure how hard the other two settings are). There are only two sections of the game that frustrated us. One is set in a science research lab, and the room gets so dark and full of debris that you can't figure out how to maneuver through the maze of rubble to get to safety, although when we tried again the next night it seemed embarassingly easy. The next-to-last mission has a tough section where you have to keep three streams of fire away from an oil tanker all at the same time. Once you finally do get past it and get stuck at the next obstacle (a gas leak), there was no "save checkpoint" after the tanker, so you keep having to re-do the oil tanker part over and over and over again until you get to the next checkpoint, then you're clear. (An extra save point right after the tanker would've been great.)One of the best things about the game is that it's the next-to-last level that is hardest, while the very last level is absolutely the most fun - an amusement park on fire, including a trip through a haunted house! - which is a nice reward. But the very, very best thing about the game is how educational it is. For one thing, there are fire safety tips on the load screens between missions - great talking points to share with your kids as they (or you!) play. But even the in-game play itself can be educational. For example, in the frustrating lab mission above, when we couldn't figure out which way to go (because we'd never been in that lab before), we talked about how real firefighters have that problem: they've never been in the building before, so they, too, can get lost. And at parts of the game, your hose can't reach any further, or your fire extinguisher goes empty, and what do you do? Real firefighters have to confront that possibility as well!During one particularly long mission that just kept going and going, our kids asked what do firefighters do when they're in the middle of fighting a fire and have to go to the bathroom? Hmm, not sure about that one!The game can really be played "casually" - taking your time fighting the fire in each section - but the rockin' music just gets you pumped up to save the day as quick as you can! Without a doubt one of the most fun Wii games we've ever bought. You'll never take firefighters for granted after playing this! Wow!

good game
My personal experiences in firefighting, and now lack of a volunteer department close by these days, has led me to purchase this game. I found the flames to react well, the hose reacts well and puts out the fire about the way a real hose would. Using the saw was a bit clunky and tempermental. You have to hit the screen just right to make the cut the way the game wants a surface cut. The jaws were kind of cool in that you have to twist them just like in real life to get the right entry point on say like a car door hinge. I started the game with the tutorial just so i could get used to the controls, but in no time i was knocking back flames. After the tutorial, you get thrust right into a commercial fire, so hang on. One other slight drawback is that in each mission, you find yourself being thrust to do many different jobs, very unlike what a big paid department would be like. For example, after putting out a fire, you get called to do some search and rescue for survivors, then off to hit the deck gun on an engine outside, then working off a ladder truck, then back to fighting a fire in an adjacent building, etc... You will find yourself alone in burning parts of a building without much of a team in a few instances as well. Very much against what you are taught as a firefighter. But still, all-in-all, this is a fun game and still gets my heart pumping when i see the flames crawling across the ceiling fixing to eat you alive!! I fully understand what the company set out to do in the game, and they did it very well when you consider there have been very few if any games like this ever produced to learn from. Hopefully we will see Firefighter 2 with some new stuff (fireboats, RIT teams, squad based control and interaction (think SOCOM), and maybe even promotion to higher levels to allow full command of all the units on a scene). Maybe i am too hopeful, but it could happen....

My adult friend loves it, but it was a little hard for my 8 year old nephew to play>
Great game for a wannabe firefighter, but hard for younger kids to play. Nice concept, though. It takes you into a burning building and gives you little missions to go on and people to save. I would have enjoyed watching someone who knew how to play it play, but I bought it for my 8 year old nephew for Christmas and he was having some trouble with it.

It's Okay
This game is awesome, since it is the only game where you pretend to be a Fire Fighter...I would love to see more games like this. It does get boring after a while, because you just keep putting out fires. It should let you ride the fire truck and walk around the station. It does let you use the hose on the fire truck, which is cool. I would def recommand it, but it could be better :)

Very intense and detailed
Bought this for my grandson that dreams of being like his uncle who is a long time firefighter. My son said this is so well detailed that it’s like a simulator that could be used in training!
