That's one of the great things about the book
The only negative about this book is it totally distracted me on Christmas Day. I'm supposed to be with family, but all I can do is read "just one more chapter". Once everyone went to bed I could finally dig in; finished at 3 the next morning. Lance Lambert's personal experiences will resonate for virtually anyone who grew up in the '50's, '60's and '70's and my 17-yr-old "non car guy" is enjoying bits and pieces as well. That's one of the great things about the book; you can read a chapter in maybe 10 minutes and each chapter stands alone as a short story. Lance brings a whole new dimension to the car culture; if I can get my wife to read this book, maybe she'll understand my "disease". Lance's perspective also inspired me to look at the hobby through a different lens; the "people" lens, not just the "car" lens. "Life Changing"? Maybe so...

A car person will like.
I very much enjoyed all the short stories and pictures of all the classic cars. I found it amazing how similar our lives were back in the day. We all had some of the same cars and experiences with car clubs, drive ins and hang outs. The only minus I found with the book was too much repetition from story to story which is understandable to have each story stand on it's own for different venues. Overall, the book was very nostalgic and fun to read. If you are a car person, I think you will enjoy and appreciate this book.

You don't have to be a car lover to enjoy this book
You don't have to be a car lover to enjoy this book (although most stories involve some sort of auto). I'm not a car buff but enjoyed this collection of short stories that show a slice of life in the 50s and 60s. Each vignette is well written; some have touching emotional impact and others are good for a laugh. For older readers this will bring back feelings of nostalgia. The stories all are autobiographical, most from the author's teen and early adult years, with the last chapters in the book relating to his television program (The Vintage Vehicle Show).A fun read and a perfect gift for the classic car lover.

Thanks for great trip down memory lane.
This was amazing, not because of the pictures, there are photos, but the very descriptive way he writes forms the images. I could not believe how closely this book matches my life and times. Same area Seattle, family life, friends and doing the cruise in Everett. But most of all we had a lot of the same cars. Sorry, back to it, if you're a car fan or just enjoy lots of short "confessions" this is for you. You will so want to stop by his garage and have a cool one.

Fun Memories of my own youth
Book is very entertaining. It is a composite of articles that Lance has written over the years as a 'car guy.' It did hop around a bit as he talked about his younger years, then more recent times, then back to follow-up on some of his younger years memories. Overall, I recommend it to those who were teens & beyond in the 50's & 60's.

Very enjoyable read!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The content was easily 5 stars, but some grammatical errors and misplaced text resulted in the 4 star rating. Even with the errors I can whole-heatedly recommend this book. Especially if you happened to be alive and a teenager around the same time period as Lance.

Especially if you are a car lover of/from the Pacific Northwest, this is a very enjoyable book, but quite good regardless.
And if you watch the Vintage Vehicle show, the book will add to your enjoyment of that show... plus vice versa. As an added bonus, Lance 'the person' really does seem as sincere & nice a "car guy" as you'll ever meet, which makes this book all the more enjoyable.By the way: The book appears to be a cool mix of new material and articles he has written over the years, assembled in a way which flows well.

A great and easy read
A great and easy read. I read this in two days, couldn't put it down .Short anecdotal chapters make this one of those "I'll just read one more" and then you find you're half way through the book. His experiences in the '50s and '60s made my laugh and sometimes cry, the story of "Humpy" and the last ride in the '56 Oldsmobile brought a tear or two. A recommended read.
