Got this bamboo Go set from Yellow Mountain Imports - my first wooden board, having used small magnetic sets in the past. The board is large, thick (2 inches) and heavy. One side is a 19×19 board and the other side is 13x13. The playing surface is smooth and flawless. Though I like the thickness, I now think the 0.8 inches board may also be a good choice and is cheaper. The stones are biconvex melamine and are a joy placing on the board. They are the right size and weight and although there are more expensive stones out there, they have a classy look and a joy to behold. They are placed in smooth large bamboo bowls that look simple but elegant. The set comes with a small bag and a booklet explaining the rules of the game. Overall, this is such a beautiful set and a joy to play with. The packaging was secure and delivery to the Philippines took about 3 weeks. I would definitely recommend this Go set to enthusiasts out there. Thanks for a great piece of work Yellow Mountain Imports and to Amazon for a great job!

Received the GO set with the Bamboo board, Bamboo bowls and Melamine stones in a nice large box well packaged and undamaged. All the products I have received from Yellow Mountain have been exactly as described. In this Holiday shopping season receiving the ordered products on time and in good condition is wonderful. The set is as advertised.The Bamboo Go board is heavy for its 0.8 inch thickness. It carries a heft that is nice. This board will be used as a travel board when going to a GO Club. I do not mind the weight although there are lighter options for a travel board. The layered bamboo wood is well constructed without cracks or blemishes. Very nice indeed. Bamboo is a fairly hard wood and should hold up to rough club use. It comes with a very nice felt cover which a real plus.The bowels are nice and a very good value at this set price point. The Melamine stones are really a good size although a bit light for my taste but will serve very well as a travel companion with the board. The stones and bowels come with a super carry bag with the Yellow Mountain logo on the front. The Bowls come with velcro straps which is a nice touch.I highly recommend this board for someone that is more than just interested in GO. There are cheaper beginner sets but this one is a real keeper so keep that in mind if you want something that you can use for a long while and not be disappointed. I will revisit this review after a few months of travel and use.

Was genuinely surprised at the quality of the board, bowls, and stones for this price. The additional niceties of the board cover, bowl straps and carrying case are very welcome as well and will help in keeping the set in great condition for some time to come. As a relative beginner to Go I was looking for a starter set that felt nice to play with at least and this more than fits the bill, definitely recommended.

I ordered the 2 inch thick, double convex melamine stone set, with carry case for the two bowls. Mostly good experience thus far: I wanted a heavy, solid board, so there's less likelihood the stones would shuffle if the board were accidentally bumped. It's heavy and solid bamboo - the board itself is the best item in the set. The bowls are good size, smooth and nicely shaped, and the lids turn up-side-down to act as trays for the stones. The bag to tote the bowls in is a good feature, but it's somewhat cheap in materials, like a vinyl/plastic that I expect to crack or peel in time. I received all the stones it calls for but some (2 or 3) have defects to their shape - dimples or bumps that make them wider than they should be, making them an eyesore while playing. I may opt to buy better stones later. It comes with a basic pamphlet with limited history of Go and how to play. I recommend this set to others, but if you can afford higher quality, I recommend that too. Perhaps buy stones separately from bowls and board. Although not required to mention this, I received a nominal (very nominal) gift card for leaving my honest review. I usually leave reviews for most products I purchase on Amazon anyway, so it didn't persuade me one way or another.

I have no negative points. It's an elegant thing for me to display and occasionally use at home. Learning, practicing, and competing is best done on apps/websites, but it's nice to have the game in its original form if there's an apocalypse and I get bored while in a fallout shelter. Not easy to travel with, it's kind of heavy, being a solid piece of wood. But they try their best to make it portable with the provided bowling ball bag. So go ahead and set it up in your fallout shelter so you don't have to lug it around.

Wasn’t really sure what I was going to get but I am very pleased. I bought the 2 inch board and it weighs 10-15ibs. There are no physical blemishes or deformities. This is my first real go board and it is very satisfying to play on. The only negative thing to note is the stones are not terrific. They’re not bad either but they are a little slippy and have an off milky color that I don’t love. All that being said, I definitely recommend this product.

This is a quality set, well made and a pleasure to use. Be aware that the board is quite heavy, but that’s a plus in my book!

This is a gorgeous set. We have it set up in our coffee/sitting area and love it! It looked nice in the pictures but we were surprised how well the quality was when it arrived. It was packaged nicely, no damages. Highly recommend. It would have been nice if the board was a bit easier to carry, but overall, well worth it!

Le plateau "goban" est splendide et son étui est un atout pour son rangement.Les bols en bambou sont magnifiques avec là aussi, le petit sac de protection.Les "pierres" sont très agréables au toucher et en nombre plus que suffisant (environ 8 pierres supplémentaires pour chaque couleur).Je salue la qualité du produit ainsi que son emballage très soigné.

Es macht Spaß und wenn man dieses Spiel gut behandelt, kann man es an die nächste Generation vererben.
