Somewhere in this movie was a story--
Somewhere in this movie was a story, but I never could figure it out. Plenty of chaos, though, if that is your thing. Maybe one must be Italian to appreciate it.

Standard Lesbian Destructiveness
Another demonstration that lesbians aren't favorable to females as such, willing even to murder other females, matricide in this film, along with more common life trashing behaviors including poisoning with illegal drugs and felony identity theft. With the defining characteristics of lesbians being hatred of the male half of the human race, regardless of whether and how much sexual activity they engage in with females, it is no surprise that their hate orientation spills over into female relationships also. Throughout the film, the daughter "hears" her deceased mother talking to her. The couple goes on a property destruction spree during part of which they rupture the gas tank of their vehicle. Having dumped the corpse of the murdered mother in a common trash dump, they go back to relocate it ultimately in the gas station which they blow to smithereens. Destructive "orientation" as usual.

I Liked It
Eleanora and her gay partner work at a gas station. One day E's mother visits and sees them kissing inside the building. She is outraged and wants to force E to move back home. E's girlfriend loses it and murders the mother. They close the gas station to take care of things when a car pulls in and insists on getting their car filled up. The girlfriend finally complies, and the people are jerks so she keys their car. The girls take off in their car with Mama in the trunk. When the jerks realize they got their car scratched they chase them down throughout the film. A very watchable movie up until the very end.

Go-To Film
A lot to unpack in terms of lesbianism, queer studies, gender/sexuality studies, maternity/motherhood, female relationships, bullying and homophobia, subaltern identities, etc. As the director is also female, a lot can be said about female spectatorship. There are a few moments of voyeurism (as complicated by the female gaze). Aside from the various moments of female subjectivity and female agency, this film also incorporates aspects of genres other than the Woman's Film: it has components of the Coming-of Age genre, The Road Film, and certain aspects of the Thriller. Lots of cool symbols to consider: the mother's shoes, sugar, blood, Clio (the dog), the car, the fake-gun that functions as an interesting McGuffin throughout the film, the camera itself (the one in the film and the one being used to film), and the corpse of the mother. Overall, a fantastic film to watch more than once!

Gasoline . . .
I liked this movie because it had an air of foreboding that had me waiting the whole time for the other shoe to drop.I was pleasantly surprised that I really had no idea what was going to happen. It was creepy and unpredictable

First half is deceivingly slow and uninteresting, but then sparks start flying in the second half!!
Starts out weird and goes slow for a long while. The second half things really pick up and the story starts really come together. The ending is an unexpected crescendo that you will never suspect until it actually happens.I didn't think I was going to like this for about the first half and then it became more and more interesting. I was entertained.
