Very, very satisfactory lighting effect
I am given to setting up fairly elaborate lighting effects at holiday time. This year I combined the Dream Drop lights with 400 brilliant purple LEDs to produce a particularly eye-catching display in one corner of the front yard. These have not yet caught on to any great extent for home displays--the high price is certainly one reason--and they evoke a fair bit of comment from neighbors and drive-bys.The product is made of good materials and the build quality seems excellent. I'm guessing that the tubes should last for a good number of years and for the price they'd better. Snowfall lights are expensive, partly, I suppose, because of the LEDs, timing circuits and the like, and partly because they are new and different, leading the manufacturers to charge all that the market will bear. That being said, there are brands much more costly than Dream Drops and others that are cheaper but of obviously poor quality. When shopping for snowfall lights, see them in operation first. Double-sided tubes produce a much nicer display from all angles. Also, the light patterns vary somewhat from brand to brand. Take your time and be sure you get what you want.PROS: Sturdy, bright, eye-catching, well built, and unusual for home displays.CONS: Pricey! Also the distance between the tubes (about 18") could be greater for increased flexibility of placement.Overall, a quality product that can make a huge addition to your outdoor holiday lighting.

I bought two sets of the 14" lights and two sets of the 7" lights. Right out of the box, one 7" tube and one 14" tube did not light - A bit surprising to me considering the high cost of these lights. Once they were replaced, I mounted the lights (last week in November) under the roof eave and they look great (received many compliments from our neighbors). When it came time to take them down (early January) I found that almost all the tube had water in them - some with almost 1/2" of water. Additionally, many of the metal strips that the LEDs were mounted on inside the tube had began to rust, leaving rust streaks down the tube that cannot be removed unless the tube is taken apart! Since the lights are LEDs, I would have thought plastic strips would have been a better choice to mount them on as this would prevent rusting. I e-mailed Dream Drop LIghts support staff to tell them about the water/rust issue and was told that I should drill a hole in the bottom of the tube to allow the water to drain. I found this fix surprising considering the cost (the highest of any of this type) the lights, especially since the description of the light states how well they are manufactured and completely sealed to the elements. In my opinion, these light to look fantastic when working but the I find the cost prohibited considering the build quality and water/rust problem after in use for only a couple of months. As stated above, a simple fix of changing to plastic strips instead of metal would solve the rust problem and if the water problem is common, the manufacturer should make them with open bottom ends. If such changes are made, I would order them and recommend them for outdoor use but until then I cannot do so!

They looked & worked great but still too expensive
when the price is more reasonable many people will buy these. Very lightweight and easy to hang on the house

Not Recommended
Thse meteor lights are too flimsy for outdoor use. Furthermore the cable is not compatible to the other meteor lights so can't connect them together on the tree.

Update to my one star rating,
See initial review below and why I gave these 1 star. Upgrading to 3 because of great customer service in replacing the waterlogged sets. No 5 star rating until I test them next season to see if they also leak. Will buy them out next year if they don't leak after one season. Thanks!Yes, I agree with others that these are dramatic lights. The only problem is they are NOT waterproof as described. I had them up for about three weeks outside lining my roof edge. I also purchased two sets of mini-tubes (red and green) that were advertised as indoor/outdoor. Nearly ALL of the lights had moisture inside them once taken down. I believe another reviewer had the same problem and I followed his solution which was to drill a small hole in the botton of each. Some of the lights had an inch of water in them and I could see some corrosion on the circuit board. I'M WONDERING HOW MANY OF THEM WILL BE WORKING NEXT SEASON when I take them out of storage. I'm betting they won't last long and for this kind of money I was hoping they'd last my lifetime. In strong winds they also had a tendency to flip up onto the roof so out with the ladder again. I solved this problem by using double roof clips on each side of each light which seemed to help. If they were to weight them it would be an improvement. Obviously they need to waterproof them also.

The Best Snowfall Lights Available
12/2011 Update:Link to video of the lights installed on my house.[...]These are quality lights from a quality seller. I did a ton of research, and even bought a different type of snowfall light on ebay which was a big mistake and waste of money. These Dream Drop Lights are by far the best I have ever seen. It takes a few mins for the set to fall into a random drop pattern. Build quality is excellent. Forget the cheaper junk stuff on ebay. These are worth it.

Otherwise they are nice and bright
One strip quit working the first day. They've only been up 4 days so we'll see how they hold up over the next month.Otherwise they are nice and bright; though I wish they were a warmer white to better mix with my current lights.I considered the 7" model as well. I'm glad I went with this length. These are as short as I'd want to go.All-in-all the price is pretty high for what you get; especially when one of the strips is already out.
