The Wizard of Oz - The Original Sound Track Album [Stereo]

There are many different editions of "The Wizard Of Oz" Soundtrack. This one is a 1989 release from CBS/Sony Special Products. The audio quality is a bit low in the beginning; but the sound soon becomes more clear. I actually prefer this CBS/Sony Release which includes songs and dialogue (to tell the story) in a 72 minute presentation. This edition includes dialogue from Dorothy's meeting with Professor Marvel (after she decides to leave Kansas with Toto and just prior to the Cyclone); which the two other (later) Rhino Releases do not. Thus, the story presentation is the most complete. I had this edition 20 year ago and lost it. I was delighted to find it here; offered by Amazon seller Chuck's House Of Music, which provided extremely fast customer service! Serious fans and "Oz" Collectors certainly won't mind owning different versions of the Soundtrack. This edition offers all the magic of the movie with Judy Garland, Margaret Hamilton, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Frank Morgan, Billie Burke, The Munchkins, and Toto, too!

This is a great album. It follows the events in the movie from beginning to end. I copied this to a CD and took it to work with me. Our department listens to music every day. I didn't tell them what was on the CD, but I told them they were going to "watch an audio movie." I told them they were about to "watch a movie in their minds." As soon as this album started everyone said "The Wizard of Oz!" Everyone knew exactly what was happening in the movie just by the soundtrack that was playing. They loved it. Lots of fun for a few minutes at work. I can't think of any other movie you could do this with.

For me, just a really enjoyable soundtrack. Over the rainbow , the witches musical cue (da dat, da dat, da daaa dat) and We're out of the woods are just a delight to hear and brings back a ton of enjoyable memories.

Excellent movie with an equaly great music. Uses the soundtrack as part of my daughters Halloween costume, she dressed as Dorothy and we made her wagon look alike abhot air balloon and played the music as we walked around.

This soundtrack is just like watching the movie! I really enjoy it, the quality is good and for a fan of the original Wizard of Oz, is as close to watching the movie as you can get without actually having it on!

For anyone that enjoyed the movie; they should enjoy the soundtrack.It's fun to listen and remember the scenes.I can't help but sing along on some of the songs.I recommend this for young and old.

The only reservation I have with this track is that it is quite literally straight from the movie. There is no grace or flow when going from one song to the next, and a lot of the songs are seconds long because of this. Would have appreciated this info when trying to determine the difference in my options. Hope it helps you, still love 'The Wizard of Oz' :)

Sounds great! But one downfall is the plastic sleeve it came in was pretty beat up for a new vinyl.
