Mekudos Fridge Lock - Magnetic - 4 Pack + 1 Key

We don't use these for kids, but rather to make it more difficult to get to the snacks and drinks in order to get us to slow down and think about what we're eating. Works well!

I've ordered 2 packs of these locks, we use them on our fridge, oven, dishwasher, and even a set of double doors to our laundry room. I love that you can shorten them, though we use them all at full length currently. My only complaint is that the magnet is pretty weak. We have some magnetic drawer locks also, and if I have one of those stronger magnets handy, I just use it instead of the one that came with these. Otherwise they are amazing!

Believe me, I have tried them ALL! With kids ages 11, 8, 5 and 11 months I spend most of my time hiding the popsicles in the freezer and marshmallows in the cupboard. It is a constant battle keeping my kids from gorging on sugar and junk food throughout the summer. It's not dangerous chemicals I have to keep locked up, its basically sugar and my favorite tortilla chips. I found this lock on my neighbors refrigerator and knew right away this was something special. It is very strong and basically only works with the magnet provided. I *did* find other magnets strong enough to open these locks, but they were hard to find. The adhesive is very strong and will stay put, which has not been the case with other such baby-proofing cabinet/fridge locks. BINGO! As long as mom has the magnets, mom is in control. No more sugar binges while they are watching Captain Underpants- I control the popsicles and therefore chores get done. My son is an engineer in the making and has figured out how to open 3 other kinds of cabinet locks all before he turned 2 years old. We were concerned for his safety because he's so darn curious and constantly getting into the very things he should be avoiding. These locks are finally engineer proof. Without the key, they simply don't open. We're so thankful we found these locks. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is that they're a bit weak. If your kid is terribly strong, they may be able to just manhandle these open, but that's true for all the strap type locks we've tried.

I have other magnetic locks that I like a lot more than this one. This one the key has to be at exactly the right spot and sometimes it takes longer than it should to get the lock open. The others we can just swipe and gain access. The other can use any magnet as a key, which is useful if the key gets misplaced. If the key to this one gets lost, you're out of luck and have to break the adhesive to gain access. And there is only one key supplied.

They're good, but keep in mind, you have to keep the clear plastic strap loose, otherwise the magnetic key is very difficult to use. If the strap is too tight, it's so hard to get it unlocked. They work wonderfully though.

We use these to keep my Alzheimer's patient mother out of the appliances. They lock nicely but sometimes you have to jostle the device to get it to unlock. It's a magnetic latch--the magnet seems to lift the latch off of the locking part. If you are going to install them vertically instead of horizontally, I recommend checking to see which way the device unlatches more easily. Gravity plays a part in the latch mechanism. We bought several packs so we have more than one magnetic unlocker close by.

1 of the straps recvd was already broken with magnet part however we found the remaining could be used as extra parts as the first one we put on fridge, we broke lol. Works in keeping LO out, the magnet ring provided was a little less magnetism than the one I have for my other locked cabinets however does work. I think if magnet was stronger and didn't recv an already broken piece I would given 4 stars. Have only used on fridge.
