Gaun Poultry Drinker, 12 Litre

Bought this because my 6 chickens drink a lot more than I thought and the original 2L needed filling every day. This one is a good 5L and lasts several days. Because it is a kind of squat shape, they don't knock it over which is good, and although you can detatch the base, the fill hole is there. I've had no problems with leakage but its important to make sure no mud/grit gets on the screw in plug of course. Like all this design drinker, the channel gets muddy from dirty beaks dipping in but a quick swipe with a cloth or sponge does the job. Altogether much better than the first one we had and I'm very happy with it.

bought for my elderly neighbour-holds a nice amount of water, so for her needs clean water is available for 3-4 days (just pouring out any debris in the drinking lip each day) rather than chucking out and replacing water twice daily as was the previous routine. just need a fairly flat surface and-if you use shavings on the floor maybe use a paving slab as a raised bedding free surface for it. Good if you got poor grip as you dont need to struggle with attaching the base to the water holding top thanks to a screw in plug on on base- far easier to fill from.

This water feeder is made of strong, thick plastic, and it is sturdy enough to hold a large amount of water. Because it is bell shaped with a small trough at the base that the hens drink from, the hens can’t stand in it so water stays clean. It fills from a screw cap on the base, which means it has to be inverted to be filled, but the handle folds away so it can be put down flat whilst doing this. The manufacturers say it can be hung, but when full, it is very heavy, so it would need a very strong support. I have mine free standing. It is good value for money as it should last a long long time, as it is washable, durable, can withstand a lot of pecking, sturdy enough not to be tipped, allows easy access for my seven girls to drink at the same time, and still would accommodate a few more.

When full it lasts my chickens about 6 days and I have 4 hens and a rooster. It has a filling cap underneath the bass which works but seems pointless as it can be easier to fill by removing the base completely. This also makes cleaning easier. Although it doesn't leak having the filling cap is just another place it could leak from. When filled you do need to turn it over and it will weigh 12Kg. The depth of the water available is about a fingernail deep and I think this could be deeper. I do tend to give it a wipe over every time I fill and there are no nooks and cranny's so this is also quickly done.

This is a very good quality drinker. I have had a number of other drinkers where the base is a push fit onto the top but the plastic is generally a poorer quality and they need a very level surface. The plastic on this drinker seems good quality and I like the fact that the top screws onto the base. I shall buy more of this design.

It feels solid and the filler hole in the bottom doesn’t leak. It’s pretty big - too big for some small chicken runs the base is a good 30cm. It fills easily and this size won’t need refilling for some time. Overall I think it’s good and a better colour than the bright red ones available. Happy to recommend.

Absolute joke! How can you send this with no stopper? I basically received a drinker with a huge hole in the bottom. I’m fuming as I needed this extra drinker for my chickens while I’m away. Now I need to find someone to refill what I have every day. I’m sick of trusting amazon choice reviews. Never again! My last review of a different faulty item didn’t get published so let’s see...

I've only given 4 stars because initially I had a problem with the bung leaking very slightly. I contacted them and I received a replacement base very quickly. Good after sales service, I will buy from them again.
