FISH: 77 Great Fish of North America Hardcover – September 30, 2006

This is an over-the-top magnificent book. The color drawings are breathtakingly gorgeous, perhaps the best ever of any "fish book" I've ever seen ... and I've seen a ton (my husband is a fisherman, and most of the rooms in our house are overloaded with fishing books).The drawings are excitingly huge. The text is outstanding.. It is way UNDERpriced; it's worth at least three-four times the asking price.How did I learn about the book? A painting instructor, who is a fly fisherman, brought the book into class one day so that we could check out the drawings. (A third of us ended up buying copies of the book!) Funny story: our instsructor said that when comes home from a bad day of fishing (translated: didn't catch anything), he sits down and leafs through the pages of this book as a consolation! And then he takes a nap.

The book is beautifully written and illustrated. A must own for anyone who’s interested in fish, fishing, conservation, and/or consumption.

I recently sent this to a man in his 30s and when it arrived he called to tell me it was "the most beautiful book he'd ever seen." He's an avid fisherman so I expected him to at least like it, but his enthusiasm obviously went further. I bought myself a copy also and have been "saving it." Saving it for what? Nothing really, but it's so precious it's almost like I'm afraid I'll get one little fingerprint on it and I don't want to do that to such a work of art. Don't think it's delicate. It's not. Book lovers will know what I mean. You cannot go wrong with this book--for yourself or anyone else. Definitely a crowd pleaser.

The book was described a perfect, yet upon opening the book from Amazon on arrival there were scratch marks of discoloration from whatever that make the cover less than new. Maybe if the cover sheet was taken off it would help the appearance of the book, as the inside looks good, but it was a disappointment to open a package to find this, which makes me wonder if I should have bought from another seller.

Earlier this week I received my copy of FISH: 77 Great Fish of North America and I am absolutely amazed. It is a superb book, beautifully written with stunning artwork. I rarely purchase what I would consider "coffee-table" or collector-type books, but I am extremely pleased with this book. I have spent several wonderful hours going through it -- and enjoyed it immensely. It will be a treasured book in my library and reminds me a great deal of the early James Audubon bird books. For any dedicated angler or fish enthusiast it is a "must-have."

Beautiful book. I bought this for a young fisherman (seven) as he's always asking about the different species of fish. Covers most of the sport fish in North America.

I am disappointed that the book came with several spots on the front cover. I knew I was buying used, but expected the cover to look somewhat decent. I used a paper towel to try to remove spots... some came off and some did not. The pages seem in great condition.

This was a gift for my son-in-law's birthday. He lives quite far away, so I haven't had a chance to see it myself yet, but he absolutely loved it.
