First, this is not 'fine' furniture and anyone ordering it should know that by the price. The Good: the finished product looks nice, is functional, and seems stable enough. The Bad: this was a total pain to put together as a few of the pieces did not align properly so it took some work to get pieces in place. We had one middle piece to divide a shelf that we could not get to go into place but fortunately for our purposes it was not a big deal. Directions and instructions are poor. I would not attempt putting this together alone. If directions had been better and product alignment had been better, I would have rated this 4 stars.

I bought this to replace the armoire portion of the three-piece, very expensive ensemble that has become very obsolete with today's large flat-screen TV's. I wanted something with a cherry finish to match the two side pieces so that I could somewhat make this ensemble complete again, but this time with a 55" TV. This is absolutely perfect! The cherry is an almost perfect match to the cherry wood on the the two side pieces. Assembly was not too hard, although after getting the doors mounted, the metal strips didn't match up to the magnets and I thought I had the doors on upside down. After removing one of them, I realized that they can only mount one way due to diameter of the hole drills, but then I noticed that there were pre-drilled holes for the metal strips which weren't being used, that the metal strips were, for some reason, mounted using different holes. So it was just a matter of removing the metal strips and remounting them using those pre-drilled holes and now those metal strips line up with the magnets perfectly. I'm very pleased with the end results.

Doors have uneven gaps, shelf divider split when installed. Poor quaility. I wouldn't give this away to Goodwill. Save your money for something better.

I got this because it matches the other Alaterre Artisan pieces I have, that fit just right under my windows. This piece fits very well too, so the dimensions sizes were key but I like them all, I have the end table as well. The style is nice, simple, clean looking. I'm very happy with them.

Excellent quality TV stand. Easy to put together. Well worth the money.

It works. The front doors aren't 100% square, but its not bad. Great for the price.

The Alaterre Artisan espresso TV stand, made in China, comes in pieces packed tightly into a large heavy box with lots of protective material plus an Allen wrench type tool for assembly. The first thing I did, was drag the box inside from the front porch, and then into the TV room where I could assemble it. I opened the battered box, unwrapped each piece, and laid them out on the floor.With guidance from the instructions, I then started assembling pieces while my other half held pieces together for me. Each step was marked clearly, however there was no indication when one step would have an effect on the next. For instance, both side pieces were attached to the top and shelf before the back was to be placed. The grooves in the sides don’t allow for the back panel to slide in, I had to loosen the sides so I could get the panel inserted, and then retighten. The same situation occurred with installing the cabinet doors.The last step was placing the shelf divider into place. This piece slides into place using metal brackets inserted into pre-drilled holes. I placed the metal bracket on the bottom shelf and then noticed there were no holes underneath the top. The bottom of the top is too far from the top of the shelf divider to be of any use anyway. It appears that a wood piece with the predrilled holes should be there to keep the shelf divider in place. I can put the shelf divider in place, but there is no reason to expect it to stay in place. I don’t see contact information for the manufacturer to help resolve issues either.Within thirty minutes, the TV stand was built and ready for use. The TV stand is assembled with good materials, is sturdy, and has a nice appearance. The cabinet area is just a big open space; an adjustable height shelf would be a nice addition. Games, controllers, and other small miscellaneous items could easily be organized and stored out of sight with a shelf. I’d even be willing to purchase the shelf separately if it were an optional piece. Plus, the cabinet doors aren’t perfectly aligned, requiring both doors to be closed together.The Alaterre Artisan espresso TV stand has a pleasing appearance, and is sturdy. The manufacturer has missed some opportunities, such as better quality control. I’m torn, as I want to be able to recommend this TV stand. I can’t feel confident in the product if assembly cannot be completed though.
