A solid bow
This is replacing a Samick Journey that I have been shooting for a few years. The Samick is a much nicer looking bow, but the Martin Jaguar feels more powerful and the arrows fly a bit flatter. I wanted to try a metal riser that could take ILF limbs. The Jaguar fit the bill. It's too bad it doesn't come with ILF limbs, but at least there is a good upgrade path. The finish came chipped out of the box. Nothing that would make me send it back, and to be honest the camo pattern hides it well. The rubber grip feels a bit cheap, and the angle doesn't fit my style. I'll be making a shaped wooden grip for it.At the range I shot 6 arrows in a 3" group at 30yards on . the first day with the bow. I have never shot that well with my Journey. The power and accuracy seems very good for the price. My setup:I settled on a 7.75" brace height with a flemish twist string made with BCY55. I have a Spigarelli flipper rest with a cushion plunger. The plunger is set a little softer than medium. This is a 40lb draw bow, and I have 500 spine arrows with 125g field points.

Awesome Bow, Poor Packaging
After striking out with a Samick Sage, I did some reading. I liked the idea of Martin being an American company. Perhaps they paid better attention to manufacturing tolerances than the Chinese. When the shipment arrived, inside the Amazon box, I found a beat up Martin box. When I opened the Martin box, I realized that Martin did a poor job of packaging their product. They just threw the two wooden limbs into a box with the metal riser, no bubble wrap, foam, or anything. During shipment, everything bounced around inside against each other. The wooden limbs were badly scratched up, and the paint on the riser had chipped off. The deal breaker was a compromised limb. There was a gash that went through the fiberglass all the way to the wood core on the back (not belly) of the upper limb. I was not about to string a compromised bow.I merely assembled it (minus the string) and admired the beauty of this bow before taking it apart and sending it back. This is unfortunate. It's such a beautiful bow.
