Easy to use. Display is back lit.
First, I gave it 4 stars for accuracy because I don’t have a calibrated meter to compare it to (everything else got 5 stars). But, I tested my RO system output against the tap water feeding it and the results were dramatic. My tap water registered 438 ppm versus 28 ppm for the RO system. I was changing my filters every 6 months, and they are quite expensive. I found that after nearly 10 months, my filters are still working very effectively. This TDS meter is going to save me a great deal of money while assuring me that my RO water is pure. I’d recommend that anyone who is interested in their water quality purchase one of these. It’s easy to use and has a very readable digital display with a built in backlight. One point, this meter registers “total dissolved solids.” It will not detect pathogens such as bacteria or viruses.

Great tool if you have sediment in your well water
This tool is FANTASTIC...... now let's talk about the initial mistake I made. We have a drilled well and run a dirt filter system with 3 ten inch sediment filters in a row. All 3 filters are 10 micron. My filters were quite old, so I ran this tool initially and got 105 or so on the reading. Grrrrrrrr......So I changed out all 3 filters and ran the test again and it was only down in the 80's. So I fired up one of our showers and just let 'er run for 20 minutes. Did another test of the kitchen tap water, and it's at 64 ppm, which is damn close to spring water quality. So if you're already filtering your water, make sure you change out old filters and really clear the system first to get a true test. It is also CRITICAL to have a couple bottles of store bought spring water to rinse the test probes off between tests. Yeah, I did the unthinkable and read the directions. LOL Good luck.

Exactly what i needed
The product works exactly as it should, you put in water and get back ppm results.I performed several test using various store bought bottle waters and tap water.Tap water rather high at 100 ppm, major brands of bottle waters was 1 or 0,i think the measure ment of 1 might be because some are adding mineral back to the water after the ro process. So the products works exactly what i needed it for, since i like to avoid tap water and have always been curious of ppm diffrence in the name brand bottle waters and the cheaper no name brand from the dollar store.Considering do not give any product a 5 star,on any review,so 4 stars for me would mean the product is great overall.

OK for water quality, horrible for water temps.
If you're only using this to test water samples, it displays the PPM info almost immediately. Of however your also using it to get water temps, don't bother. Buy the time there temperature settles, the thing will time out. Depending on the difference between the air and water temps, it can take 3 or 4 minutes to get an accurate temperature reading.

This TDS Thing is Fantastic
I have had a reverse osmosis water system (R/O) to provide drinking water in our house for years. I have always just assumed it was working properly as the processed water accumulated slowly. I change the R/O membrane every few years with the same performance. However, with the most recent membrane change the water processed faster than usual. This caused concern there may be a leak. I ordered this TDS meter and within minutes of arrival I had a ppm reading that confirmed the R/O system was working fine. I understand a properly working R/O system should reduce ppm to 1/10th of the supply water. My readings were tap water: 450 ppm and R/O water: 35 ppm. The TDS digital display illuminates red for poor readings and green for acceptable readings. I tested other taps around the house (inside and outside) to see the effects of water system components like whole house filter and water softener. It is great knowing this information about our drinking water.

Inaccurate and can not calibration. Not recommend to buy this meter
New updated:I bought TDS water for calibration. Sadly this meter is not calibratable. Meter was read 560 ppm in a 1000 TDS bottle. I just one to let everyone know if you got this meter and used for drinking then I would not recommend. Don't but this TDS meter it can not calibrate and I see alot of positive feed back I wonder those folks knows that their how accurate the meter.I used this TDS meter for over 2 months now and it very useful, it can check tds and temperature. But today I just bought another TDS meter from EZ TDS and compared, this TDS read was out of accuracy and I tried to calibrate. And It can not calibration. I tested water in my shrimp tank with this meter it read 148 but with EZ TDS meter it showed 248. Which mean If I keep useing this tds meter I will kill all my Crytal Red shrimps tank, I got over 50 CRS in my tank. I would not recommend anyone use this meter if you need high accuracy.

Appears to work exactly as it should
I put three water samples into three of the same kind of dish (which I'd hand washed). #1 was tap water. #2 was filtered with a brita. #3 was filtered with a brita twice. I let them all sit for a few hours so they'd all be the same temperature. Tap water read 95. Brita filtered read 69. Twice filtered read 59. Then I dissolved a bit of salt into the tap water and it read 175. Seems to work quite well, at least when comparing the readings to each other. My tap water is very "hard" but is not known to be in any way dangerous. And the device says that a reading of 51-100 is "hard tap water". So the reading appears to be fairly accurate in an absolute sense, in addition to the relative readings I mentioned above.

Reasonably Priced and Peace of Mind
This meter is very easy to use and read. It is a useful tool to get an assessment of your household water. I use it for my residential water reading. This works great in tandem with water test strips.

Reading seems to be accurate
I compared city tap water and water from an undersink filter against distilled water (0 PPM) and I believe the readings to be accurate.

TDS measurement inaccurate
Been testing for a while. The TDS measurement varies widely, and was informed by seller that it cannot do back to back tests of different water.Seller instructed that between each test, the meter needs to be washed and dried.Even measuring same water after cleaning can result in different values that vary by 5-10 units.

Good tester
Good tester. You have to wait 3-5 minutes till it shows accurately temperature and ppm.
