Absolutely fantastic! (Updated: Second purchase!)
Update Jul 24, 2016 - These capos have been so reliable, strong, and of better overall quality than any of the dozens I have owned in my life that I had to jump on the Prime Day discount for another pair. I love having one in my travel pack and one on each guitar I play regularly (I do alternate between my preferred instruments almost daily). While the cheapo capos, and even the not so inexpensive models from local music shops, may still "work" with some special care and attention, the Nordic Essentials capos are easily the most sturdy and reliable feeling of any I have owned. Yes, I now own 4 of them! Very, very recommended. Original review: I have been playing guitar for well over 20 years. As I'm primarily a rhythm guitarist, 95% acoustic (never really got into electric guitars), I use capos every day to change the key for various songs I play regularly. I can't even remember a time when I wasn't using a capo on a daily basis. So I have purchased and used dozens of capos over the years. They all eventually wear out. And I have an assortment of acoustic guitars, each with a unique fret, neck, and playing profile. And I have definitely seen capos fail after regular use. Earlier this year (2015) I purchased a handful of cheap Chinese capos for insanely low prices. They worked ok for a week or so, but the springs wore out quickly. Finally, I decided it was time to just get something that works. I chose this item because of the review and the lifetime warranty. When they arrived and I began using them on my various acoustic guitars, I was properly impressed with their performance. They clamp down very tightly, reducing buzz and other capo related issues on my old guitars. Honestly, they are worth every penny. Time will tell how they hold up over months, years, and countless hours of use, but in 20+ years of playing guitar this is by far the most impressive and well-built capo I have used! Highly recommended!

Initial issue but - NOW SOLD on these capos -they are very nice and WORK GREAT
August 7 - (Start from the bottom and ready up if you want the really long version of this review).. Just got home two days ago and opened up two very nice deluxe capo's. I have now used them on different guitars, a 12 string Martin and a ukulele - they work great - in fact with my hands/fingers, I like to move the Capo back from the fret a bit - and these grip/press down the strings so even half way between the frets I'm still getting great sound and no vibration. Been playing guitar since I was 16 (on and off)(about 31 years). Even after the initial experience I had on my original order, I'd recommend getting these. They are very sturdy - just didn't seem that way when one arrived in the mail broken. Now I am not sure how a person would break these unless abusing them. Also - look at the deluxe ones - I got the coffee and the silver - very sleek and classic looking. I'll have these for years and I am happy to have them along. Thanks again to Nordic Essentials for being so responsive. July 30 - UPDATE FOR THE BETTER - Kudos to the Nordic Essentials team. They responded and explained why what happened happened. Looking back, I should have waited to post the entire review as I didn't give them a chance to explain. The experience I initially had has not changed, but they have responded professionally and I am willing to give these Capos another try. We all know Shxx happens. I'll update when I learn more. July 27 2015 Opened up sack to find Capo was in pieces. And only ONE was delivered - NOT TWO. So broken out of the box? I looked it over - and yes it is made of aluminum, BUT the pivot pin is made of PLASTIC? I own a few capos and have had them for years- they all have metal pivot pins. Both my sons started playing guitar and I wanted to give them a capo - sent in for a refund - it's time to shop for another set with a metal pivot pin.

excellent capos!
This is a very simple and effective capo, it seems to be very well constructed and works great. I purchased it for classical and flamenco guitars that i own but it works fine with electric guitars as well. i have an unusual 8 string classical guitar and its not wide enough for that although it can easily fit across the first six strings. It works perfectly with a standard six string classical and flamenco guitar as i have tried on both. It goes on quickly and effortlessly and i find that so far i have not needed to adjust the tuning after putting it on. When it comes off, the instrument remains in tune as well. I would recommend this for most standard guitars. (this particular order was a set of two, one is a silver color and the other is black. I believe they are the same otherwise. Visually, i quite like the design. I have no complaints about these capos and they work quite well. Each one included a nice carrying pouch.

These are nice capos for six string guitar or other singley strung ...
These are nice capos for six string guitar or other singley strung instruments. Well made, nice design, and the price is right. I like them a lot. Buy one for every guitar in your closet. It does NOT however work for my 12 string guitar . The durometer rating or hardness of the rubber face is too hard to compress the octave strings on the twelve. When the capo is installed on the twelve, some of the octave strings buzz out. This does not happen with the Kyser capo, the rubber is slightly less hard and it does compress enough to reliably capo the octave strings on the twelve, so for now, I will have to stick with the Kyser capo on the 12 string guitar. These are wonderful capos for my six string guitars! Had it worked on the 12 string guitar I would have given it five stars easily.

Buy the two pack + lifetime guarantee means you'll never be without a capo.
I recently started playing the guitar again but couldn't find my shubb. I know its in the apartment somewhere, so I didn't want to buy another one. Instead, I wanted a cheap effective capo and started looking at this style pretty quickly. Comparing the price of the two pack to the single capos, this was by far the cheapest per Capo. Get the two pack - more on that in a minute. The capo itself is very effective. There is nice rubber and a solid spring, so you won't get much fret buzz. The way it's built, I very rarely find myself bending springs when I put it on, and then its really easy to fix (just squeeze to release and put it back on). Once its on, it stays in place, even when being knocked a bit. The rubber doesn't extend all the way out, so you do have to be careful to put this straight on as I could picture someone carelessly scratching their guitar... but honestly, this is true with any metal capo and is really easy to avoid. The only real downside to this capo (and it is apparently identical to other capos for sale with different branding) is the construction of the joint. While the capo is high quality rubber, and aluminum - for some unknown reason the manufacturer uses a really cheap plastic joint. I found this out about 3 weeks in when my capo broke apart while putting it on the guitar. Here's why I don't care: I got a two pack for under 20 bucks. I emailed Nordic, despite it still being in the return window, I gave them the option of me returning the Capos to amazon(I was just going to buy the Shubb) or they could send me a new two pack. My thought was, if I had three, and another broke, I'd still have two left. They obliged! (and fast - I got the capos two days later). My suggestion - buy the two pack. Safely stash away your back up - and if one breaks, email nordic for a replacement and start using your backup one. They claim a lifetime guarantee - I don't know how many times they will replace broken capos - but even if they only replace twice (one for each in the pack) I would imagine these will last you a while, and at the price - if you lose one you won't be overly upset. Summary: Be careful putting it on, and then it works great. Easy on, easy off. One broke, but the company was great about replacing it. Buy the two pack and even if one breaks you'll never be without a capo.

Form over function...gets in the way of hands, sharp edges scratch and poke.
Excellent quality, but really bad design problems. The metal is cut at pretty sharp angles, so handling it is pretty uncomfortable since you have to squeeze pretty hard to take in off and on. This is a problem in two ways: the end of the nose or bridge or whatever that holds the strings down presses into your hand when play chords low on the fret board. I've never had that problem with other capos, but I guess since these are cut flat rather than rounded out, it makes it more noticeable. The second way is that it scratches your guitar since taking it off and putting in on the headstock means that you'll usually come in at an angle and knock against the wood. Not good for beautiful wood. The last thing that bugs me is that, unlike the conventional nameless black plastic capo, the grips are under the fret board. This seriously gets in the way of your hand. Anyone who has these, are you able to comfortably make and Amaj7 without being cramped? I dunno, I was really excited about these for the style and price, but I'm not able to get over the form-over-function design of these. Will be returning, these just won't work for me, or probably anyone with larger hands. So all in all, hey, it's a good quality capo for people with small hands that stick to C, G, and D, but for more intricate chords and larger handed folks, it hinders more than helps.
