Swanson UltraSame 200 Milligrams 60 Tabs

I have been buying this product for months and decided a review is long overdue. I suffer from depression which also has mild psychotic features that is very difficult to treat. It seems to be a purely biological condition as I am more content than most people I know and love who I am, I am just very, very sick. I tried SAMe after I had been on several drugs, (paxil, wellbutrin, and celexa but not long enough to say if that one helped) and can say that SAMe, unlike the prescribed medications, actually touched my symptoms. While I could certainly perceive the 'therapeutic' effects of the antidepressants, they were not at all reducing the severity of my symptoms which were so severe I wanted to die most days, and on bad days wanted to kill myself. SAMe, in about a weeks time, actually reduced the severity of my symptoms and brought me back quite a bit at 800mg in the morning before breakfast. This is half of the maximum dose, but I have found that going over 1000mg just makes me feel anxious (about nothing) and makes it hard to sleep, but I am prone to both these side effects so it's not surprising. SAMe hasn't been a cure for me, but it has incontrovertibly made my life more livable on many occasions. I do find that I develop a tolerance, so I like to cycle. on and off. I should also add that I have finally had some success with Effexor (snri), actually achieving total remission for the first time in over a year and a half, and while that didn't last, it has given me hope that there may be some drug or combination (combined with a healthy lifestyle as well) that may be able to provide some long term relief. In summary, if you are suffering from depression and want to pursue drug therapy, SAMe is probably worth a try 'just to see' even though it is OTC, but check with your doctor first.P.S.I have also noticed little aches and pains in my joints disappear while I am taking this drug (joint health is one of the recommended uses for this drug), but none of them are bad enough to even draw my attention until I stop taking the SAMe and they return. But I am 18 and have hardly anything to complain about pain wise; just wanted to vouch that the claim of better joint health seems to hold true for me.I should also note that I have taken SAMe solo and in combination with Paxil, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, and Effexor.

I have purchased other name brands of SAMe in the past and this product works just as well, if not better, and for a more affordable price. I suffer from PMDD, which means for half of the month I can become very depressed and the other half a fairly normal person. I had taken prescription antidepressants for years, which did work, but I did not like the side effects and wanted to try something non-addictive which led me to SAM-E. I noticed a difference in mood approximately one week into taking this product. This can vary from person to person and upwards to four weeks according to manufacturers. The recommended dosage found on Sam-E can be anywhere from 1200 - 1600mg which is very high to start with. I recommend starting at a lower dosage and increasing slowly according to efficacy. 400 mg daily increased to 600mg when necessary is sufficient enough for me to get a grip and function normally. I did initially experience the anxiety and insomnia side effects but that dissipated after a couple of days. If you are looking for a "happy-pill" that makes your troubles go away, your children become angels, and turns your husband into a knight in shining armor, then you are barking up the wrong tree. What this does for me is bring me out of that "dark hole" into reality so that I can handle all the garbage that comes my way in a more sane manner.

got rid of my depression temporarily. you build a tolerance, so you have to take more, i got sick when i stopped taking them, like some kind of withdraw, depression came back after discontinuing.

My naturopath recommended I add Sam e to my protocol, but her office is closed due to covid 19 and she wasn’t able to get her deliveries, so i tried my faithful friend Amazon. Not sure why Sam e is generally formulated with artificial sweeteners, but after some time I found this and I’m so thankful it contains no unnecessary flavorings. Added it to my supplement protocol only 3x per week and what an improvement to my energy levels!

I have ordered this pills before and already know very good, that is great quality of Swanson product. So why do I buy SAM e ? It helps not to be stress out, keeps good mood and also some how it stops pain in my joint .

It is hard to find SAMe in stores at a reasonable price. I needed the supplement at a lower dosage and this is just right. I will order it again when needed. Thanks.
