What a great set of albums by one of the great singers
What a great rediscovery of one of the great singers of my generation. I have had a cassette of Who Knows Where The Time Goes in my collection pretty much from when it came out. But I have to say Judy got lost in the midst of all the other music that came out. I saw this and ordered it and I have to say it is a vert delightful almost four hours of what has to be one of the best female singers. Here are five very good albums full of some wondetful songs, not a bad one in the bunch. These box sets are so wondetful I have picked up a number of them of others. Five great albums for the price of one, you can not beat it. Now something I noticed about Judy is she is way beyond just a folk singer here are a wonderful blend of diffetent styles all done in a most wonderful way. I am finding listening to this set such a great time, this lady has a way of presenting songs in such a wonderful manner. If you are looking for spending some time hearing some great songs done by as I said one of the great singers pick this one up and enjoy.

Great music, docked 1 star for mediocre sound
This is timeless music. The voice we all love and the arrangements that so perfectly supported it are all here. What more can you say about this collection of some of the very best releases by this underrated artist? Only one thing: besides the barebones presentation, no extras and the poor reproductions of the original covers, the sound is subpar. There is even distortion present here and there, most notably on the tune, In My Life. Here there is distortion present on the peaks. I realize the source material may had it on there but one wonders if any effort was made to remaster these discs, first released on the late 1980s. These classic albums certainly deserve better treatment than this. They are sorely in need of remastering.

Extraordinarily Beautiful Music
Judy Collins is arguably the best folk singer ever recorded. And these 5 CDs are arguably the best albums she ever recorded, done at the height of her career. My words cannot adequately describe the beautiful music on these albums. But let me list a dozen of my favorites. Each of these songs has beautiful lyrics, a haunting melody, Judy's angelic voice, and a superb arrangement. You will love each of these songs the first time you hear it, and you will love each of them even more each on the next dozen times you listen to it:Both Sides Now, (Joni Mitchell);Suzanne, (Leonard Cohen);Mr. Tambourine Man, (Bob Dylan);Tomorrow is a Long Time, (Bob Dylan);Tom Thumb Blues, (Bob Dylan);Marat/Sade;My Father;Someday Soon;Sisters of Mercy, (Leonard Cohen);Priests, (Leonard Cohen);Albatross, andHey, That's No Way to say Goodbye.

Classics, every one of 'em.
I owned each of these albums in vinyl when they first came out. Each one was played to death. Then the stereo was jettisoned and it's been ages. It was so lovely to hear them again after all these years. BTW, Miss Collins has just released a new album of duets called STRANGERS AGAIN. Her voice at 76 is a crystalline and pure as ever. Amazing! Forget that her song partners include Don McClean, Jimmy Buffet, Jackson Brown and Jeff Bridges, of all people. Give that one a listen too!

Great Voice And Sounds The Same Today
Just saw Judy in concert at the Musical Instrument Museum, (MIM) in Phoenix, she sounds just like she did in the 60's. Got home and realized I had some holes in my CD collection. Got on Amazon.com and ran across this deal, 5 Original albums for the price of two, what? You can't beat that deal. If you are a Judy Collins fan and don't already have these albums, this is a sweet deal. If you do have them this is a great gift idea for that BFF. I'm very happy with the purchase..

It is a great sampling o JC's very early work
This came in a collection of JC. there were 5 CDs in the set! It was a VERY economical way to extend my library of Judy Collins! I bought the Judy Collins: Original Album Series (Fifth Album / In My Life / Judith / Who Knows Where the Time Goes / Wildflowers) from Rarewaves-Imports. It is a great sampling o JC's very early work. I love it!!

Great albums, good price
The CDs are in pasteboard sleeves (not surprising given the reasonable price) but the sound quality seems better than the original vinyl and comparable to more expensive CDs I purchased years ago when there was a very limited selection of Judy on CD. I'm very happy to have some of my favorite albums in this set, including some great songs such as Pirate Jenny and Marat/Sade that rarely appear on best-of collections.

Judy Collins Hard to find CDs-A GREAT SET
A wonderful collection of early and mid-career Judy Collins. Pristine voice, pristine cd audio. From wistful folk, to calls for social change--still as relevant today as before! Ms. Collins' diverse repertoire, her beautiful voice and lovely arrangements always provide listening experiences of grace. The set is a great bargain, too. Delivered in a timely manner.

The Consummate Early Adopter!
Oh Judy Blue Eyes, it's a chance to gauge your singular contributions to the musical canon, gathered here on a collection of five of her early albums, from 1965-1975. In an age where every Tom, Dick and X-factor wannabe inflicts their versions of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah and God knows what else on our ears, it's inspiring to remember a time when Judy's interpretations of the then obscure Cohen were the hippest thing on the folk music block, the insane contrast between Judy's clear as a bell diction and classical discipline and the composer Cohen's growl? That she covered early Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot (what's with Judy and Canadians?), Jacques Brel and Randy Newman amongst many, showcases her eclectic and nearly immaculate (her attempt on Donovan's "Sunny Goodge Street" completely and wonderfully bizarre) taste in contemporary music. After all these years, I am newly admiring her early self penned compositions such as "Albatross". For those who are only familiar with her warhorses, Both Sides Now and Amazing Grace, this bargain collection is a box of many delights (and admittedly the very occasional dud) - and highly recommended as such.

Judy-In-A-Box: Top Quality Music, Perfunctory Packaging
I had been looking to get some Judy Collins albums for some time; I've always enjoyed her voice, and I am also a fan of the 1960s Elektra Records sound. Handy then, that this neat little five-album slip-cased box bundle was available at a very reasonable price. What impresses most about Collins is her awesome vocal purity, and her fine interpretive skills, whether working in Folk standards, Bob Dylan covers, or other gems such as Rolf Kempf's 'Hello Hurray', which was a mid-seventies hit for Alice Cooper, of all people, and show tunes such as 'Send in The Clowns', the latter of which I was always a little unsure of, but have grown to love Collins' version. I particularly enjoy her fine re-working of Randy Newman's 'I Think It's Going To Rain Today', which has been done by artists ranging from Bobby Darin, Dusty Springfield and UB 40, but Collins is one of the very finest. Sure, the packaging is perfunctory - the miniaturised sleeves probably don't do many favours for the original sleeve artists' design concepts, and the text is commensurately reduced - but if the music is your ultimate concern (and the Original Album Series doesn't claim to be anything other than a way of converting old catalogue into new product), as it should be, then this set works a treat.
