Outstanding kids bike for the price.
This 18" bike was purchased for a 4.5 year old (46" tall) who is riding without training wheels. Despite reservations that this bike would be too big, it is the perfect size with the seat down all the way and there is plenty of room to grow.Assembly took about 20 minutes and the only tools that were needed was an Alan wrench, socket set and Phillip screwdriver. Most of this time was actually spent unpacking the bike which was wrapped heavily in cardboard and other protective material. Actual assembly time was closer to 10 minutes. The only fine tuning required was the front break and everything else went together smoothly. I liked how the handlebars are adjustable so I was able to angle them inward for the shorter arm reach.I did remove the plastic number plate off the handlebars because I didn't like the look. Otherwise this is a sharp looking and sturdy kids bike that should be good for two to three years of use. I also liked that it came with a kick stand which most other bikes tend to come without these days. This is a shout out to Amazon Warehouse Deals for a Used - Very Good item that only had a banged up box and otherwise appeared brand new for $60 less than a new bike. Most sizes and colors had numerous items on Amazon Warehouse Deals so there is a good chance you'll be able to save some money on this bike. Funny thing is this item actually came with two sets of pedals, when most items tend to be missing parts, so if you get this item and are missing pedals let me know and I've got you covered.

A Great Bike for Smaller Kids
Reading some of these reviews had me a bit concerned. I believe that many are written by individuals expecting the bike to arrive ready to ride. This is not the case. You should avoid making this purchase if you are not mechanically inclined. With that said, assembly is not difficult. This will include adjusting the hand brakes. These are the items usually already done for you when purchasing from a bike shop.A lot of reviews mention issues with the crank bearings failing. I believe this is caused either by they way the bike is shipped or by kids dropping the bike on its side too frequently after removing the training wheels. That is because the crank housing is plastic. It’s the only thing that is lacking of typical Schwinn quality. When the bike arrived at my house, it was clearly marked not to place the package on its side. The delivery person did so anyway. Before I even pulled it out of the box, I checked to make sure it was not damaged and that there were no missing parts. Good to go!This is a very nice kid’s bike and my son loves it. The bike is fairly lite for having a steel frame. If your kids requires an 18 inch model or smaller, I would recommend it. If you are looking for a 20 inch model, I would consider another model or brand, especially if your kid is an aggressive rider.Good luck!

Great for a training bike
My grandson learned to ride on this bike.

Nice bike overall
Very nice bike. The package came a little banged up and there is definitely some nicks and scratches but nothing compared to what will happen when my daughter starts riding it so I decided to look past it. Brakes are a little unaligned, I did the best I could to fix them but I will prob take it to a bike shop to have it professionally looked at, not so important as this bike still has the pedal-back brakes. Overall I’m happy and think she will love it.

Great little bike
My kid rode this until he was ready to upgrade. Great bike lasted him the couple years he needed it. Schwinn has always made great bikes as long as they are put together right they work right. Another words if you purchase them from Walmart make sure you tighten everything yourself.

Shipped with bent rim; heavy bike
This bike was shipped with a bent rim (view picture) that prevented the wheel from spinning because it would hit the brake caliper (box didn't look damaged there so no one could tell anything was wrong from the box exterior). I didn't see this until after I already assembled it the bike--if I saw it first thing, I would have returned it then and there. I called the Schwinn customer service line. They apologized profusely, were really nice on the phone, and said they would ship a whole new rim/wheel assembly. Only the rim came, however, meaning that I would have to remove the tire and inner tube and re-seat/re-assemble everything. Disassembling to ship it back at this point would have been too much hassle, so I ended up taking it to a bike shop, which is a pretty penny. The bike overall is pretty heavy, which is unfortunate given that it's almost the cost of a premium brand. The brakes aren't great quality either and was only fixed by the bike shop through a tune-up. That means it's 2x+ the price of the bikes one finds at big box stores without much benefit--those are around the same weight. Looks good once everything is working. We are keeping it because of the money we spent to get it in working order, but not recommending it for others.

Love this bike
Easy to assemble. I love that it’s made to adapt to a growing boy. My 6 year old is large for his age. Many bikes that fit him don’t come with training wheels. This one does! Also, it has a kick stand for the day he learns to ride and no longer needs the training wheels. I haven’t found another bike that has both. My son is a nervous type, but felt very comfortable on this bike. I set it up so he can place both feet flat on the ground, but he can still comfortably pedal thanks to the bike’s design. I also appreciate that this bike can be stopped three ways - pedaling in reverse, and the two hand brakes.

A cool BMX for a child age 7+
I paid a little more but knew that the BMX is ridden by the kids for many years. Added Schwinn to the mix for durability. Many of the children ride this size BMX for a very long time.
