Scarpetta Puttanesca Sauce, 19.8-Ounce Jars (Pack of 4)

We hesitated ordering this,because of all the packaging problems people reported. Well, they must have listened to the feedback, because our sauce arrived very well-packed and in pristine condition. We just tried it tonight, and we loved it! It's not just sweetened pureed tomatoes. It tastes like a fresh, homemade puttanesca sauce. The capers and olives blend well and add a lovely tang to the sauce without overpowering it's freshness. We made several dishes, so we could try it, as is, on different things. We tried it on cheese ravioli, polenta, grilled chicken breasts, spaghetti squash, and roasted portobello mushrooms. It was delicious on all the items. If we wanted a slightly different flavor profile, we think it would also taste good jazzed up with sauteed mushrooms, Italian sausage, sauteed spinach, etc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ REVIEW ADDITION: This versatile sauce is also great on eggs! I toasted up some English muffins and topped them with a little butter, some fresh baby spinach, some egg whites scrambled with a little Italian seasoning, cheese, pepper, and salt, and then topped it all with some of the warmed sauce. 5 stars from all family members for this quick and easy meal.

Excellent savory sauce! Wonderful heated up alone...or added to your favorite sausage to make sausage grinders. Any leftover sauce can be used on a half of an English muffin ...sprinkled with shredded mozzarella cheese and either re- toasted or broiled for a minute or two till hot and bubbly. Have that with a crispy green salad and you have a quick low calorie lunch! I love having this delicious sauce on hand and have given containers to my family and friends to try.

Great taste, decent price. But 1 of the jars leaked in shipping. Happily seller refunded 1/4 of price so I'm happy.

I love that there is not a single ingredient on here that I cant pronounce. There were nearly whole olives in the sauce as well as capers, adding wonderful texture and little pockets of extra flavor. It's HALF the amount of calories per serving as the Trader Joes Puttanesca, and the ingredients were more whole and closer to their natural state. A little pricey, but worth the price for wholesome food! Plus, the jar is actually a great bonus .It's microwavable which is neat, and easy to keep your leftover sauce in. I plan on actually using mine as replacements for my traditional tupperware for homemade soups and such!

The issues I have with this item have to do with the shipping. I have not tasted the product yet, so cannot comment on taste. The first order arrived with one jar compromised and green/white mold on the cardboard box and noticeably less sauce in one container. The container was not cracked or broken, but somehow it leaked out. Customer Service was helpful and sent a free replacement. That just arrived today and that package was even worse! Black, fuzzy mold was widespread on the cardboard box and container label. This time I just asked for a refund - I'll not try a third time. The sauce might taste lovely, but it doesn't seem to handle the shipping process very well.

This sauce is not as spicy as I expected and had a significant amount of olive flavor to it. There were whole chunks of olives which caused one person I had over for dinner to kind of pick around his plate. This is not what I was expecting. Overall while it had a fresh taste to it, I was expecting a product with more flavor.

I saw this product on a show on TV called food factory. I was impressed that it was a family owned business, with a family recipe. They use great quality ingredients and I thought the price was very fair for the quality of the product. It taste fantastic just like my nonna used to make. And I will buy it again

I bought a case of this sauce because a lot of reviewers said it was good tasting. The seals on two of the jars were broken or possibly broken and I was too chicken to try them so I just threw them away. Overall, I thought the flavor was good but not great. After chucking two of the four I obviously felt I overpaid. This will go down as probably the worst food I've bought through Amazon and I definitely won't buy it again.
