So the biggest problem I have with this device is you must connect the power first and then the other cables. If you do it out of order, the picture doesn't always show up and the sound will also not work even if you get a picture. This is a huge pain when you have a power outage and have to disconnect and reconnect everything. The manual doesn't say hardly anything at all about troubleshooting the device or setting it up in this order. I also tried contacting the support email (which they claim 24-hour replies) however I have yet to receive any replies. Once you figure this all out, it does work nicely, the picture and sound split nicely and I like the HDMI passthrough but I would prefer a reliable solution instead of having to constantly mess with it to get it to work. The price is nice and other solutions like this are more expensive.

--- UPDATED REVIEW #2 --- So after 10 months, my replacement converter has failed. Worked flawlessly up to this point, but it's obviously disappointing to fail so quickly. Oddly, it was failing in the exact same way as the first unit I received (see previous updates below). So on a hunch, I swapped out the power supply with a matching one and... it's working perfectly again. I also swapped in the first unit I received, and it's working perfectly too. So as I had thought originally, the power supply seems to be the issue with my failures. It might be a good idea for the vendor to include a higher quality power supply, as the actual unit seems to be pretty solid. Hate to see a good product victimized by a cheap accessory. Downgrading to 4 stars for the headaches. --- UPDATED REVIEW --- The seller contacted me and offered me a free upgrade for this adapter. The upgrade appears to be the exact same box, but it came with a short, gold-plated HDMI cable for the input port. When hooked up, this adapter worked perfectly! So it appears the length and quality of the input cable is important for successful operation. Can't say enough about the follow-up service by the seller... upgrading the rating to 5 stars! --- ORIGINAL REVIEW (UPDATED FOLLOWS) --- First unit purchased had several issues... first, the PAL/NTSC switch did not work. Both switch positions output in PAL. Second, unit would work OK with only HDMI in and HDMI out, but the second I connected the composite out, the unit would fail to transmit to either. Seemed like a Power issue... possibly a faulty power supply. Thanks to Amazon, I ordered and received a replacement 2 days later. Second unit is mostly working, but is a bit wonky. When first plugging in the composite audio, there was just a series of clicks - no sound. Cycling the power a few times eventually solved this. I've also had a couple of instances where it dropped the HDMI out audio, and I had to cycle the power to get it restored. When it's working, it's doing exactly what I need it to. However, I am not confident in the long-term prospects, as it seems quality control was an afterthought with this unit.

Great product & price, use to connect cable box to my DVD recorder

[UPDATE] So the company reached out to me and gave me a full refund for the product. They seem to really care about their customers so I've updated my review from 1 star to 3. The product was still pretty bad but I appreciate the effort of theirs to reach out and make things right. They also sent me a free 300ft HDMI cable, so that was pretty cool. First, I must say that it isn't what I thought it was. I thought this was for inputting RCA to HDMI. That's probably my bad but the description could be worded a bit better. I don't know why it would say "upscaling" in the description if this converts an HD signal to RCA... Anyways, I thought it would be fun to plug my PS4 into my CRT Television and well, it worked for a total of 4 seconds. Then the signal dropped out. No matter what I did, it would not come back. I tried new cables, turning everything off and on again, different inputs, and nothing worked. Lastly, it's a small issue, but the PAL and NTSC switch was reversed. So, PAL meant NTSC and vice-versa. It's not super important, but it shows a lack of quality control. I will be returning this item. Way too expensive for such bad quality control.

This HDMI to AV converter was very easy to hook up and works perfectly. I am also pleasantly surprised it also crops the picture to 4X3 and fully fills the screen on my CRT TV.

I use it to split an HDMI output in RCA and HDMI , woks perfect , HDMI to tv and RCA to a chanel 4 modulator , if signal is 4 k the output from HDMI will be HD only but woks perfect
