Not the best loom but it is a toy.
Bought this bead loom for my 11 year old daughter at a local craft store. When my daughter first tried it she wanted to give up before she ever got started. The instructions tell you to cut ridiculous lengths of thread. Using shorter threads and starting with 6 threads and letting my daughter create her own pattern got her started. I help her set up the loom as it seems to be a two person job. The first row is the trickiest so for now I put in the first row for her and she happily carries on from there. She loves making bracelets. We bought bracelet fasteners so they can be taken on and off easily and have even upgraded to the glass seed beads. The seed beads are a tad smaller than the plastic ones that come with the kit which makes it a little trickier but it still works. That being said I was browsing on Amazon to see how much a 'real loom' would be.

For teens only
This was a gift for my 11 year old daughter. She found it very frustrating and never completed a project. First of all, she was unable to set up the loom. If that were the only difficulty then it would be fine, but she was also unable to work the weaving. The thread with the needle has to be 4 yards long. It kept getting knotted up. Weaving the needle through the beads was too hard for her. I recommend this product only for very patient middle schoolers or high schoolers. I don't know if it's just this particular kit or if bead weaving in general is difficult. My daughter also owns the scarf kit by the same company and she loves it.

Poorly made, very difficult to do
I have never tried to weave beads before, but I am sure there must be better kits or looms out there. I bought this from a local toy store for my very craft-savvy 8 year old - she has been making jewelry and other crafts for a long time and has great dexterity and patience. The loom is cheap and flimsy - the pegs don't fit together well. The directions are minimal - a few illustrations, a very few words, no helpful hints or advice on how to make it work.Every part of the process is hard - attaching the threads to the loom, tying them tightly enough, stringing the tiny beads, and then most difficult of all, the actual weaving process is really hard to do. So buyer beware!

Do not buy
This is garbage, I bought for myself because my old loom broke and this was the only one I could find at the michaels store for $30 and I didn't want to wait to buy online. If you can manage to get the strings on they pop off a few mins later and you have to start over. I got about 7 lines of beads done before I gave up, then I tried 2 more times today and quit.. So I looked on Amazon and bought one like my old one (Darice 1012-24 bead loom) for $4.

My daughter got this as a birthday gift. It is very cheap and very difficult to do. All components are cheap. Instructions are terrible and the process of beading is just frustrating and almost impossible. I would never buy this or recommend buying this game. It is just pathetic.

Only gets a star because of the bead variety
Loom fit together poorly, difficult if not impossible to get thread tension tight enough to weave well, grooves to hold thread are large enough for embroidery floss not the sewing thread that came with the kit, thread tangled often leading to lots of frustration and no project started, let alone completed. We'll keep the beads and thread and invest in a better quality loom

The peg you're supposed to wrap the thread around and hold it in place is far too aghast, and it keeps popping out. This makes the loom unusable.
