Petrouchka: Score (Boosey & Hawkes Masterworks Library)

This is a study score to the 1948 Edition of Pétrouchka. It is well printed and of sufficient size to be legible even to my toiled bespectacled eyes.The 1947 Edition is one in which Stravinsky reduced the size of the orchestra. Many recordings are made from other editions, so don't be surprised if a measure or two are changed here and there.

B&H社の「Masterworks Library」のシリーズは他にも２・３冊持っていますが、いずれも以前ポケットスコアで出版されていたものを単純に拡大印刷したもののようです。バルトークのオケコンの譜面などはさすがに若干の粗さが目につきましたが、本品はかなりきれいです。紙質も、丈夫で汚れにくいカバーもグッド。３大バレエぐらい楽器数や音符のヴォリュームがある楽譜は、やはりこれぐらいのサイズでないと読むのがきびしい。眼前にガバッと広げると、ストラヴィンスキーのオーケストレーションの素晴らしさ・職人技に改めて感じ入ってしまいます。　こうした名作のスコアも、ゆくゆくはSibelius等のコンピューターソフトで浄譜された譜面に置き換わっていくのでしょうか。でもそうなったら値段がハンパないだろうなあ…。
