Outstanding budget friendly watercolor pencils
Product: I am not very good with watercolors and prefer watercolor pencils for more control. I own the Derwent Inktense pencils and enjoy them, but sometimes they are too vibrant for the look I'm going for. I have tried several different sets of budget-friendly watercolor pencils and I have to say, I am very impressed with the Castle Arts. They are as smooth and creamy as the regular Castle Art Pencils, which I also love. These watercolor pencils lay down nicely and blend beautifully. The pencils are octagon shaped so they are easy to grip and don't hurt your hands. They sharpen easily with no breakage. Though they come pre-sharpened, it is not a very fine point. I recommend sharpening before use. The first page I colored with them was in a book with Create Space paper since we know it is some of the most difficult paper to work with. The normal paper buckling occurred, but as you can see, the picture turned out great (though I am not an artist by any means.) I Only used the Castle Art Watercolor Pencils with fine liners and gel pens for accents. All the shadowing and gradient is from the pencils. You can not go wrong with these for the price. Seller: These pencils are lifetime guaranteed, I received a lovely note from the seller upon purchase asking if I had any problems. I did have one issue with my set. One of the pencils was defective and kept losing the lead when I sharpened it. I contacted the seller about the problem and requested a replacement pencil. They sent me an entire replacement set. The communication with the seller was very pleasant an professional. I was impressed with their genuine concern regarding customer satisfaction. I will definitely purchase from this seller again.

Best Reasonably Priced Set Out There
I already had the regular colored pencils and loved them. I wanted a set of good watercolor pencils that was reasonably priced because I never wanted to use my expensive sets to “practice” with. I had a bad experience with a cheap set before but I liked the regular colored set so much I had to try the watercolor. I was not disappointed. The colors are bright and blend well. They are comparable to caran and Derwent but not as smooth. Too much layering gives a shiny waxy finish like a regular colored pencil would leave rather than the more chalky texture from the more expensive brands and for color saturation you just cant match Inktense. But these are truly fabulous pencils and I already find myself leaning on these and then adding pops of color with Inktense and gel pens at the finish. And they come with a fabulous guarantee. Castle sent me a whole new set of regular pencils because the core in the black one I had was broken even though I didn’t discover it until months after receiving them. I took a couple of photos of my experiment page. They aren’t the best but hopefully you can see the range and brightness of the colors. It was incredibly easy to go from dark to light and get just the right saturation. For comparison I did the fish with the caran and Inktense and the butterfly with just Inktense. I also highlighted with gel pen.

Great pencils at a decent price
I purchased these watercolor pencils for bjd faceups. There is a beautiful arrangement of colors with hardy cores(this means they don't break easily like some of the more pricey brands do.) There is great color payoff whether or not you use them wet( I used them dry.) and there are no repeat colors. The run they come in is nice as well. I'm not sure what size some of the reviewers expected a run of 72 pencils to be, but they are a perfect size to store in an art drawer or off to the side on a desk. I would totally recommend these!

Smooth, a bit shiny...
I use Derwent Water Soluble Pencils and LOVE them the best but i use certain colors more regularly and needed to replace just them. It was going to cost more to replace my colors than this whole set because of shipping. These are Prime shipping so even cheaper. I thought I would try them. So far I like them a lot. I use them dry and wet over gouache. As the features of Giftable, Presentation and value 5 Stars! When I used them dry they were nice and smooth on black paper. When I used them over the top of gouache to bring out highlights they were okay. They were a bit shiny which doesn't go well with my method and I wont be able to use them for that. I have posted a picture comparing them in their water soluble state with Caran d'Ache and my favorite Derwent watercolor pencils. You can see that they are as pigmented as the other two but they aren't bad. I would say they are good coloring and at that great price you would be satisfied.

Great product and follow up
Superior quality. As an artist I appreciate the quality of these pencils. And the price was remarkable for the number of pencils in the set. I will order from these people again!

They are beautiful
I received these beautiful colors and tryly love them. The first set I got the whole container was dented and once open the pencils were deformed. I expressed my concern to this company and quicker than heck I got a new set. I just don’t know why the pencil lead keeps breaking on me! I do like them but maybe I got a lemon set, I don’t know but I am about 3 inches on the majority of my set!

72 watercolor pencils
I'm not an artist so I'm basing my review on that. I purchased these to color some fabric stitchery projects and haven't used them yet. I will try to remember to update this once I've actually used them. The pencils came boxed in a nice tin with several slotted trays for the pencils (these were grouped in color ways i.e. blues, yellows, pinks, etc.); this is definitely a plus for storage. The one draw back is it the tray layers are a bit difficult to remove as you get closer to the bottom of the tin; I solved this by inserting strips of fabric (paper would do also) under each tray with a bit folded over to the top of the tray to use in lifting out. The few random colors I did test writing my name with seemed to glide smoothly over the paper.

Sehr gutes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis in edlem Design. Wundervoller Kundenservice!
Good set of watercolour pencils
These were my first attempt at using watercolour pencils. I was delighted to see a wide range of colours. They were value for the price paid. The colours blend well leaving no pencil marks when water is added. The pencils on there own are smooth to layer. The swatches I made were coloured applying light pressure. Overall I am happy with the purchase made.

Great value for money!
I purchased this product as I wanted to try out watercolour pencils but have been used to ‘normal’ colour pencils. The product was exceptional value for money and the packaging was of high quality. The pencils have a nice tactile feel which makes them pleasant to handle and the spectrum of colours is more than enough for the average user.Although I haven’t been using them for very long, I am very happy that the quality is giving me the results I am looking for!

Amazing quality for the price
I ordered the water colour pencils as I had already ordered the 120 normal colouring pencil set from Castle Art which I might add are amazing. The water colour pencils turned up very quickly and although I haven't had the chance to use them on any projects yet I did have a little test to see how they were. They are quite amazing. the colour flows with water without leaving any scratchy lines. The pencils themselves are lovely and soft so no scratching on the paper. I tested them on water colour card but haven't had the chance to test on mixed media paper or card yet. Therefore overall I would say a fantastic set of pencils for an unbelievable price.
