Big and hard to turn
This thing is BIG and heavy. Many of the reviews I read said it is difficult to operate the valve and gave suggestions such as using cooking spray or a silicone spray. I tried both and neither freed the valve to what one might expect as reasonable. Still, I did manage to operate the valve with considerable effort. My recommendation is that you secure the valve to something solid when it's installed so you can get the leverage you need to operate it. And, if the installation is outdoors, I'd recommend keeping it covered so that the big red plastic handle is not subjected to the sun, which in time will weaken it. To operate the valve that handle needs all the strength it has was designed with, at least.

Tight fit. Quality product.
I used this valve to help siphon a .4 acre pond using 4” PVC pipe. It does open & close hard but that goes along with a tight fitting valve. If you want an easy turn, leaky valve look elsewhere.

Great Valve, Great Price
Perfect! Bought four to prepare our system to re-route effluent for a future engineered septic. They are tight to turn, no surprise given the size. A little plumber's grease goes a long way. Liked them so much we bought 2" valves for redirection of grey water.

works
this is a heavy wall sch 40 pipe fitting you will need an adapter to use on thin wall sewer pipe

Heavy Duty
These are huge. Hard to turn, but with some silicone they loosened up. Still had to build a key to turn off and on. But they are 3", so you would expect them to be tough to turn. very solid good product.

It's a gusher.
Made a pond drain for a one acre pond. Gravity will drop it down about 2 feet in 24 hours. Just what the doctor ordered.

Great value. Quality.
Just got mine in. They are a high quality piece for the price. Slip connection is tight to the pipe. It is hard to turn the ball valve, but the handle is heavy duty and doesn't flex or feel like it will break. I can understand the tightness as there are thick seals on both sides of the ball.

Doesn't cost $200-$700!
Installed well as an emergency shutoff in case of sewer main backup. Moving the valve is a little stiff; some plumber's grease solved that. Sure beats the $200-$700 for any other comparably-sized valve!
