DIY Ukulele Kit Make Your Own Concert Ukulele 21in Soprano Hawaii Ukulele Kit with Installation Tools

Let me preface this by saying that I never write reviews, in fact this is the first review I've written on Amazon.I loved the idea of putting together my own ukulele. I'm no expert, but an advanced beginner and wanted a nice wooden uke to practice on. I didn't see any that I loved right away so I thought I would just paint it myself. Everything went great until it was time to piece it together. If you buy this diy ukulele kit be sure to check the hole diameters for everything that gets screwed in and check the fret board in case of warping.I assumed that since it was all sold together that the holes for the screws would be sized accordingly. Nope. Not only were the holes on the body off by a mm or so, but the holes on the bridge were too small for the screws and the faux pearl inlays that are supposed to on top of the screws. Not realizing this in time as I screwed in the bridge the whole thing cracked and it's basically unusable now (see picture. I unscrewed it and tried to apply a small amount of glue before clamping the bridge together, but it's still too unstable to string). The fret board was also slightly warped, but I think it might have been playable if it weren't for the broken bridge. Looking at the glass half full, at least I have a really pretty decoration to hang on the wall.Long story short, the built quality of the actual body and neck is cheap but fine, but the screw holes were way off and the fret board was a little warped. If you know these things going into it you can probably compensate and it will work out. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for me.

Absolutely no instructions. There should at least be video somewhere. Luckily I had a ukulele to compare for the build. It does not sound as good as an expensive one but for the price point not too bad and fret boardis rosewood. I had fun building it. I am happy with the purchase. I may buy it again.

It’s a lot of fun to make and decorate, but that’s about it. This ukulele is definitely more of a toy. Even after replacing the tuning pegs it won’t stay in tune long enough to play it at all. I ended up spending over $60, I even bought new strings. It wasn’t even worth it in the end. It ended up looking super pretty, but I’m probably just going to use it as decoration.

We have tried a few different ukulele kits, and thus is the one we’ll always buy. Many other kits are unplayable! This one comes with nice wooden parts - no yucky plastic fretboard! And us easy to put together. We did not use the strings that it came with, those are probably what cause others to dislike the kit. Too bad they don’t send it with higher quality strings, but for less than $10, you can get a nice set of strings and have a playable Uke!I recommend this kit!

Simple to put together. Only complaint would be the fret board is not measured correctly, so it was impossible to tune and play correctly, although it may have been unique to mine. All together a fun project that at the very least will be a nice decoration or a gift to someone who won’t use it as a ukulele.

Bought for my 7 year old niece bday present. She loves my ukulele and enjoys arts & crafts. Win win. She can paint it and get a Little help from her dad with the construction.

I got this little guitar for my daughter for Christmas. She has enjoyed it. She doesn't use it as a serious musical instrument. She plays with it and has enjoyed it. We have not had any issue with strings breaking or coming loose. It has held up well.

Fun build!The material is very smooth. Installation is relatively simple and can increase the relationship between parents and children. You kids could play it all the time, they also can painting on it. You can even scarve or draw your name the neck! It’s really great!
