Uplifting and Beautiful
I, of course, liked the songs and being a songwriter I found myself wishing that things could actually happen that way in reality, and I enjoyed every minute of every scene, and found no fault with the storyline. Great acting from all cast. They were convincing in character. Will look for a synopsis to help me choose what "she" must have been smiling about in the last scene?

An inspiring story of 3 different people trying to find a way to start over.
I remember seeing ads for this movie and wanting to watch it. But I hate going to the movies. Don't know, I can't explain. So when it popped up for rent, I snatched it up.Honestly I was really looking forward to this film just because I love Mark Ruffalo and though I won't admit it I kinda love Keira Knightley as well. I had no idea Adam Lavine was even in it until I read an interview with Keira and how she said he was incredibly good at acting like an a**hole during the shoot.Begin again is a story about 3 separate people. Greta (Keira) and her boyfriend Dave (Adam) are song writers and they've embarked on many projects together. Always together. They're flown to NY to see about a record deal and for some reason Dave is forced to fly to LA without Greta. She tries not to be bummed out about this but as soon as Adam returns, he's showing her a song he wrote while he was in LA. About another girl. Dude, that's a really b*tchsh*t way to tell someone you're in love with someone else. I would had drowned him in the kitchen sink. That's just me though. So you see Dave in glimpses of being a jerk, basically. And you follow Greta through trying to mend her broken heart. Her friend she ends up staying with was probably one of my favorite characters. The way he freaks out about her breakup, you don't meet many people like that. And it was him to forced her to get on stage and sing which caught Dan (Mark)'s attention. I loved his savvy you-matter-you-dont-matter attitude he had the whole film. I love the friendship that bound both Dan and Greta together. I love the impact Greta made on Dan's daughter the most and how she got her on the track. And I loved how no matter how much time was spent between Dan and Greta or what was going on, it was all business. All platonic. There wasn't romance in it. It was like a breath of fresh air.Begin Again, I think is the perfect title to how everything plays out by the end of the movie. It was captivating, inspiring and really well done. I wasn't expecting to love this movie as much as I did!If you're looking for a hear warming movie to watch on these soon-to-be cold winter nights that aren't drenched in romance then I would highly suggest Begin Again!

Endearing Enough to Matter, Nonchalant Enough to Enjoy
Because of the variety of ways in which record companies structure their administrative ranks it is nearly impossible to neatly summarize a music executive's role and prospective job description.Nonetheless, their responsibilities typically are in developing and selling music by way of seeking out new talent, marketing new recordings, and overseeing most if not all aspects of the commercial production process. In order to remain successful they must keep pace with musical trends in addition to harboring influence over them in tandem. Suffice to say, it is one part of a tough and competitive business owing to the transient nature of pop culture and its whims.𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄.𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈! 𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 - 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒚'𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆... 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒖𝒍, 𝒆𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒔. 𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄.Begin Again is a 2013 American musical comedy-drama film written and directed by John Carney and starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. Knightley plays a singer-songwriter (‘Greta’) who is discovered by a struggling record label executive (‘Dan’, portrayed by Ruffalo) and collaborates with him to produce an album recorded in public locations all over New York City.Because of Carney's prior experience with playing bass for 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔 fresh out of high school his impression of talent scouts (also known as A&R reps) would serve as inspiration for 𝑩𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏’s baseline. The stereotypical scout as Carney describes were big on ‘wining and dining’ potential clients and imposing a physical presence during a time that predates digital streaming and larger scale distribution complexes. Audience members are not made privy to Dan's development as a executive, though his methods (Specifically, as they involve the consumption of music) are relatively archaic compared to his presumed-to-be younger peers and competition. In combination with this perusal of adaptive physique is the influence provided by Carneys older brother (Jim) prior to his death in 2013; described as a gifted musician, the inability to see his own story play out naturally made way for both traumatic and anticipatory lingering.Written as a reluctant performer, Keira Knightley is 𝑩𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏’s designated sore thumb; that said, having absolutely no experience playing guitar and singing beforehand – and needing a break from roles in which the character she plays dies or befalls tragedy - she took lessons from a voice coach named Roger Love in addition to ones geared towards the guitar prior to production with a hindered but focused diligence. There were days on set she would not know what music she would be expected to play during a specific day of filming until the morning of or shortly before, and it goes without saying that compared to her much more musically-inclined partner (Adam Levine) that is delivery is far less natural: perhaps purposely and appropriately so however given Greta's hesitancy to glamorize her performances and compromise her values for the sake of formulaic glory.(Sidenote, but it is a shame to discover comments made about Keira Knightley performance by Carney that are rather harsh and dismiss her efforts here. Needless to say, Knightley’'s humility ends up being 𝑩𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏’s hallmark swing, and it is endearingly present opposite of Ruffalo's roughed up penchant for warmth)There's really nothing fresh or particularly original about 𝑩𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏’s circumferential stature as Dan's marital and paternal issues are standard accounts at best, and everyone can see Greta's pseudo-rise to relative fame coming from miles away. The distinct perspectives that decide what success means to different people is what lies at the core of this particular story, and it is elevated as an intentional homage to a location where popular genres of expression thrive and new ones are constantly being creative. A mature-for-its-age escapade, most prominent is the development of the relationship between Dan and Greta in the context of a mentor-esque dynamic that teases intimacy without superfluously devoting itself to it as a source of monumental conflict. Exceptions to this are instances in which the experience of making or listening to music acts as a precursor to romance, but this more importantly emphasizes the tendency for musicians and those passionate about music to affectionately express themselves to others in a language that sometimes only they might understand. Last, but certainly not least, further implicated is the power there is in empowering and contributing to an artistic vision without mindlessly pushing for compromised authenticity and overshadowing the influence that undeniably talented individuals can have on both life changing decisions and the accessibility they encourage to their own work.Where do we go from now? It’s hard to say, but for the extent in which 𝑩𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏 is strung by together by a plethora of #TeamWorkDreamWork nonsense it has sense enough to ground itself in the acknowledgement that fractured chaos can give one hope for a better future when little else keeps us from believing in ourselves. Far from novel or monolithic in terms of what it has to say about risky and high-stakes business endeavors, 𝑩𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏 is charming enough to matter and nonchalant enough to enjoy. If centered around a more polyphyletic entity its flaws might intrude as a noisy distraction, but the satisfaction here is not in playing on, but in choosing to play along.

Very sweet Rom Com
Okay, so I was weak. I'm mostly a Sci Fi action guy, but I like both actors in this, with a cameo by none other than Adam Levin. A very sweet tale that the entire family can watch. Well written script with excellent actors. What's not to love. This is a big bowl of popcorn movie, so I hope you have a good vacuum cleaner!!
