PCIe 3.0
Works properly. The only PCIe 3.0 non-RAID SATA controller card that I could find on Amazon.

Works well, fast single drive speeds, NOT PCIe 3.0
The Rivo 4 Port Sata Controller card is a great device. Mine worked right out of the box, no additional drivers needed. You do get a CD with drivers on it, but Windows 10 detected it and it worked right away. I'm also using this card in an unRaid setup and the connected drives are seen by that OS. Some Pros and Cons:Pros:Fast data rates (or at least the expected data rates of the connected drives), no obvious signs of performance loss on connected drives.Board feels solid and Sata connections are sturdy and attached to PCB well.Blue LED on board flashes when drive is active, so if you can see the card in your case you can tell which drive is currently active.Easy install. Slot it into an x1 PCIe slot and connect the drives and you are all set. Device works right away (Windows 10 and unRaid OS tested).Cons:This is NOT a PCIe 3.0 card. This is a PCIe 2.0 x1 card. Pulling up the datasheet on the Marvell 88SE9215 confirms that the interface is 2.0. Still plenty of bandwidth for a connected mechanical HDD ... but I would not recommend connecting SSDs to this as it's performance will suffer. Those blue LED lights are super BRIGHT!!! and they stay on ALL THE TIME. They flash when the connected drive is active on it, but they do not turn off. Also, it seems that unRaid has an issue with the Marvell controller, but that is a Marvell issue, not Rivo. Research into the buggy behavior with that OS revealed others have issues with Marvell controllers, as well.Good device, great price, with some issues that were not a deal breaker. An LSI controller card may work better, but you also pay for that performance.

For me it was plug and Play with Win 10 Home..
It let me Expand my drive ports and configure Raids in Windows. Really cant say if it works with Standard Raid Bios.. Mine was installed after windows was installed on M.2 Nvme drive. My M.2 diables sata 5,6 .. So used it to get my drive ports .

So far, works and is plug and play
I bought this after getting a different model which was literally falling apart. The Rivo is however solidly built and I had not problems installing it. I needed a quick fix for an older failed card, so an additional bonus was that it is plug and play with windows 10. I have not fully tested the DVD and BluRay drives attached to it (for writing), but they, and a pair of hard drives (on SSD) were found by the system after installing this. I don't really care much about transfer speeds for the PC I installed this in, so cannot comment on that, but I did not notice anything different in that regard with the SSD attached to the card.

Reliable SATA card with four extra connections ( but not PCIe 3.0. )
I recently upgraded to an MSI Z390 MPG Plus, which has only 6 SATA III connections. I installed two M2 chips in RAID0 for my C:\ drive. Lost two of the SATA III connections for the M2 chips! I have nine ( now eight ) devices to connect to the motherboard. SUX! I plugged this into my MoBo, fired right up.Shut down then connected the four extra devices, the re-started. All four extra devices were there! They show up as removable devices like the CD/DVD drive, and USB thumb drives.Transferred a 2 GB file from a drive connected to the MoBo to a drive connected to this got steady 150 MBS transfer rate.Transferred a 2 GB file from a spinner drive connected to the Rivo card to an SSD drive connected to the same Rivo card. Got a steady expected 115 MBS transfer rate.So far after twelve our of use and testing, not a hiccup!

Sometimes is not recognized....
I know this is not a knock on the product, but wanted others to know it may not work perfectly. Sometimes, I mean one in 20 it does not recognize a drive, or no drives at all. I hope you have better luck.

Plugged right in and worked. NOT PCIe 3.0, Not "Hot Plug" capable
I like the black since my PC case is black. Tested Transfer Speeds (CrystalDiskMark) on 2 HDDs on motherboard SATA ports v.s. same HDDs on this PCIe to SATA card: same results.1) Listing says PCIe 3.0 which was significant in my purchase decision. However It does not appear the card I received is PCIe 3.0:My UEFI Firmware says "PCIe 2.0 x1 @ 2.0 x1"HWINFO64 says PCI Express Version: 2.02) Listing says "Support hot swap". I believe there's a difference between "hot swap" and "hot plug" even though it appears it is often used synonymously. But FYI:HWINFO64 says "Hot Plug: Not Capable" for all 4 SATA Ports

PCIe 2.0 not PCI 3.0
First false advertisement! This product is PCIe 2.0, it use the Marvell 88SE9215, here the spec form the marvell website: 88SE9215 (PCIe 2.0 x1 to 4 6Gb/s SATA ports, no HW RAID)Second the card I receive is not exactly as shown in the pictures, the sets of SATA connectors on the top don't point up, they point straight to the next PCIe card, so it's impossible to install SATA cable (even 90 degree) if the adjacent PCIe slot is used.Won't recommendWon't thrust Amazon products descriptionsReturning this item, won't buy Rivo products anymore

Great for the price but not PCIE 3.0 speeds
plug n play card, BIOS and unraid detected without a problem. As others noted the chip only runs at 2.0 speeds, you only get 500MB/S shared across 4 ports. This is fine for hard drive but not for SSDs.

Right-angle SATA ports
The card is pictured with all 4 ports being parallel to the board, sticking out the sides. The card I received has two of the ports at right angles to the board, pointing straight out, which makes them completely useless, since even a right-angle SATA cable won't fit without hitting the card in the next slot over. Had to return the card.
