Great Ladies Singing Great Songs
If you're a fan of the great female vocalists of the 20th century then this collection of 73 songs will be well worth your time and money. All of the greats are included (Streisand, Garland, Clooney, Lee, Holiday, Franklin, Christy, Bassey, Wilson, etc.) as are many of what are considered songs from the Great American Songbook. These are all original recordings (no remakes or concert versions) that have apparently fallen in to public domain and are being released on this UK 3 disc collection. Quality throughout is pretty decent (these are not remastered) and, considering that most were recorded prior to many of the technical advances that have improved sound quality greatly, most sound exactly as you will remember them (if you are of a certain age). Are really great collection usually available at a reasonable price (less than a buck a CD if you purchase used and not much more for a new sealed copy). If "Divas" are your thing I think you'll really enjoy this set.

Very Enjoyable if you love the Classic Ladies
It's true.. A lot of the classic greats are here. The Title Prime Divas is quite far fetched. Pretty sure most would not want to be classified as a Diva unless your like Mariah Carey or most of the California female singers who are living in dream world (aka planet Coo Coo). Anywho... Great songs and singers here. It is very clear to see that the person who chose the songs and singers was biased to Ms Streisand. They start disc one with her and end it with her. They start disc 2 with her and end it with her. They start disc three with her and end it with Ms. Piaf. Hahahahahh.. That was quite odd but whatcha gon' do?! :'D Worth the $ though. I wish there was more June Christy. She's one of my fav's.

LADIES SING THE STANDARDS
The dictionary definition of a diva is a great female singer, and virtually all the subjects of this compilation merit the epithet. It offers 74 tracks ranging from jazz to popular song by an eclectic but mostly familiar company of song thrushes. plus some you may have forgotten, like Chris Connor and Jeri Southern. Most of the songs are standards, many of which originated on stage or screen, and that information, together with details of the accompaniments, could with advantage have been included in the tracklist. Disregard that minor quibble, because this is an excellent compilation
