Alessi 90010/I Ashtray, Stainless Steel, 3 x 12 x 11.5 cm

Ok, this not a cheap ashtray however....The build quality and general aesthetics are spot on, light years away from the facsimilies that sell for a third of the price.The main reason is due to both proportion, finish and build, this is polished on everything that is visible when the ashtray is assembled and on display, ie lid and base, then you take it apart all other surfaces are brushed finely.The picture shows the base being brushed but on mine it is finely polished.This gives me the appearance of a very shiny speaker cone, it just looks beautifully proportioned, having studied a bit of engineering and design I very much appreciate this piece.On a practical note it also can hold a good amount of waste whilst keeping the bulk of it under cover and this keeping the smell away.I rate this product highly.Oh yes, one must pay homage to Marianne Brandt.A great designer...
