Cute and sassy
Well, I have known there is this character Pippi, but I haven't tried the book yet. So I tried finally.Pippi Longstocking is such a unique girl with gift, out of the box kind of girl. But you cannot help but loving her. She may not be smart, but she knows how to survive. And she loves her friends, not only her monkey and horse but her neighbor Tommy and Annika.

A classic
We bought this book. Pippi Longstocking is a classic that's becoming increasingly overlooked. It's an offbeat tale (in the vein of Roald Dahl's works, but more whimsical and less creepy) of a little girl whose father is lost at sea and who lives alone in a villa in a typical (older) suburban neighborhood. Her best friends are her neighbors Tommy and Annika, who are transported to a wild mentality when they're around Pippi that breaks free of the rigorous demands and roles the rest of the world is putting on them. There's no doubting that Pippi is a black sheep, at times nonsensical, and badly behaving. But likewise she also encourages Tommy and Annika (and the readers through Tommy and Annika) to look at things a new way, question why things are as they are, and encourages them not to forget to have fun. While it's true that Pippi is becoming dated, the situations, especially socially, that the children in this book face are still real. Speaking as a girl who always wanted to be as strong, brave and clever as Pippi when I grew up these books can still make a great, fun read for kids, and can give kids a sorely needed role model in the literary world (especially girls, who are a little light on literary heroes to begin with). We read it before bed at night over the last few weeks and my kids looked forward to it every night. They enjoy Pippi's silly logic, but most of all her indomitable spirit and her willingness to try anything and face up to the scariest of situations. Highly recommended for older, but still child audiences, Pippi Longstocking is a great teacher of not judging a person by their looks, but how they support and empower the people around them.Recommended for: 7 and up (loose)Contains: Kids playing with guns (briefly)

Pippi marched to the sound of her own drum...refreshing story!
I bought this book for my niece. I started calling her Pippi years ago and she had no idea why. I told her all about Pippi Longstocking and how I used to love the character while I was growing up. She hadn't heard of her, so I decided this Christmas to get her a book. She didn't know what to expect, but I come to find out that she absolutely loves the book. Recently, she was excited to tell me that she was reading it before bedtime and she loved all the funny antics Pippi got into. I think I'll have to read the books again...I loved that she marched to the sound of her own drum. I guess I modeled my life by that motto. I'm happy to be able to share these books with her.

for strong daughters
It is not everyday that you get to choose a 1950 book to entertain your (baby) daughter. Yet, Pippi Longstocking is a classic for a reason, or actually a number of reasons. First, Pippi's depiction; Pippi is an orphan but somehow the author had saved us all drama and set out to create a character who takes life for what it is and makes it an amazing world where everything goes and wonders is something you create for yourself. Flirting with the surreal, Pippi is extra strong, imaginative, creative and dares to be her (different) self. All in all what i wish for my daughter. Second, the incidents she finds herself in are original, even now, some 50 years after the book was written makes it very refreshing and entertaining to the adult who reads the book to the child. I would highly reccommend this book to any type of parent, who envisions a daughter equally -if not more- strong.

Great classic book
If you have a daughter, niece, or younger sister, and need to get them into reading, this is a fantastic starting point. Consider it a book for early elementary students or those with little interest in reading.

Ótimo Conteúdo mas Péssimo material, papel MUITO Ruim e Capa bem frágil
O Livro é ótimo pra Aprender inglês. Mas a qualidade do Material é Muito ruim para o preço que está a Capa Comum. Péssima qualidade o papel do livro e a Capa. Tenho muitos livros em casa mas este é o primeiro que vejo um papel tão ruim e inferior. É minha Avaliação sincera do aspecto físico do livro. Insatisfeita.

Nutty & Hilarious
Off late there have been a number of rebel girl books. But this one was released in 1945 and is as rebel as a rebel girl can be.Illogical and hence funny . Nicely written with good pictures.A classic and can still be enjoyed . Recommend for 8-10 year
