Great value for price
The ball joint head isn’t as buttery smooth as your reputable and overpriced brands, but that’s totally fine. All I need it to do is hold my camera steady for still photography and it does that perfectly. With the screws tightened this thing is sturdy as a brick house. The overall construction is great for the price. It does not feel cheap. With all the legs and mono extended it’s taller than I can stand and you can flip the mono inverted to get your camera hanging all the way down to ground level—lots of flexibility with this tripod. Highly recommend.

Great all around tripod
Affordable, Versatile, and light weight. The ball joint makes switching from landscape to vertical in my moderately heavy d780 a breeze. Compared to my previous tripod(s) this is a game changer.I bought the orange color mostly because it was a little cheaper…turns out I actually like it and it’s always easy to find in my messy car.Shipping was fast. Took me a few minutes to figure out how to adjust the legs but once you get that figured out this thing is great!

A worthy choice!
I do nature photography as a hobby, but my profession also requires me to do a lot of client photography and videography. I had a good photography tripod that I've used for years, but it met with an unfortunate end when someone ran over it with a piece of machinery accidentally. The tripods I use for doing videos are all relatively cheap "Amazon Basics" tripods that work perfectly well for keeping the light action cams I use for making videos stable, but when I tried putting an expensive DSLR and lens on to do client photos they simply couldn't hold up -- I not only couldn't get stable photos, I was worried the whole thing was going to go tipping over even when weighted down with a sandbag. So I went searching the web for tripod recommendations. Good luck with that, most of what I found were recommendations for tripods well outside my price range, given that client photography is a small part of business. Maybe someday spending $500 on a tripod will seem reasonable for my business, but definitely not today.I'm not even entirely sure how I ended up settling on this tripod, I probably ran into a recommendation for it somewhere, but I'm glad I did. I've done two shoots with it now and it has been a big improvement over even my old 'good-but-now-mangled' tripod, let alone the cheap ones I use for videos.Pros:1) Quick and easy to set up. Granted, most tripods are, but still...2) Very stable. Holds my DSLR and lens with nary a hint of movement even after hours of use. Even at low F-stop in medium light it keeps things rock stable, I was able to push my lens a bit more than I usually would to get nice shots without worrying about camera shake. Granted, that's kind of a tripod's job, but in my experience a lot of tripods in this price range aren't nearly as stable as I need.3) Versatile. This tripod is a lot more adjustable than my last one. I don't really need that for my application, but it's nice to know it's there if I ever do.4) Removable head. I can replace it with another if I need to someday.5) Nice leveling bubble placement. My prior DSLR tripod had level bubbles that were pretty useless.6) Folds down small. Not a huge deal, but I have to haul around a lot of gear -- backdrop/frame, lighting, ect. -- so size matters.Cons:1) Heavier than I'm used to. It's not like it's heavy per se, not really, it's just that as it's not made of paper thin metal and cheap plastic the way my video tripods are, it always feels heavier to me than I expected. Not really that much of a con, it's super light compared to, say, a couple of lights, but still...2) The case is tight. Again, not really a con, but the case, while surprisingly well made, is a tighter fit than I'm used to.All in all, I'm glad I settled on this tripod. When I go to replace my video tripods, something I'm contemplating doing soon, I'll be getting more of these.Recommended.

Great tripod choice for beginner
I really can't complain about the Mactrem Carlsbad tripod. For the money spent, I feel like I got an exceptional value. Tripod is light, easily deployed/adjusted, and is really easy to upgrade the ball head down the road if you so choose to do so. It's by no means as nice as some of the multi hundred dollar carbon fiber units I've seen, but I plan to shoot from this thing for as long as I can and I'm positive it'll hold up to the job. I would recommend this one to any photographer that's just starting out, or even if you want a cheaper spare to carry with you in case something were to happen to your main rig.

Solid low-to-mid level tripod. Hard to find new quick release plate for.
The tripod appears well made, has a lot of different configurations, and the joints appear stiff in a good way. The rotary mechanism of the ball joint and everything are good. I really only have 1 beef with the product, but interestingly searching through all the reviews and questions/answers I've not found a solid solution. It is this: where can I find a replacement quick release plate? I bought a generic one about 40mm in diameter and it definitely doesn't fit. The quick release mechanism opens up just barely enough to remove the plate it comes with, which I've measured to be about 36.5mm x 36.5mm. I am afraid that the few 38mm ones i've seen online will be too big, but almost worth a try because it's a pain to remove the plate and reattach to different device every time you want to switch from one camera to the other. Lots of QR plates online of various sizes from 27mm to 40mm, but none in the 36-37mm range which I think this would require...Will increase to 5 stars if this is resolved. Might try one of the 38mm ones but afraid it will be another waste of $10-20 bucks. Not the worst thing in the world. Overall good tripod. Would recommend to others if there were easily available QR plates.

Suitable for any level of filming
For a tripod that can extend to 5ft, this is an easily portable, lightweight and stable tripod. It's flexible so I've been able to shoot in tight corners.
