Full disclaimer: I'm a Kickstarter backer for this book, so my version includes a couple of extras. I will not be talking about them here, only discussing the content present in every copy of the book. Cassandra Calin (usually known as C. Cassandra) is a webcomics artist I found years ago in CollegeHumor but I've followed her since then on her own platforms. Her comics are fun and relatable takes on everyday life. They speak from her own experience, so occasionally they're focused on more personal things (such as her gender, size or career), but they can still easily be enjoyed by people from all walks of life, like Sarah Andersen's work. When she revealed her Kickstarter campaign for this book release, I jumped at the chance. I got a limited signed copy with a bunch of extras, but the basic book is the same for everyone: hardcover and kinda massive for a book of this kind. Generally, compilations of webcomics are a bit smaller (I put a picture to compare with a few different ones), though the size of this one can be attributed to the detail of the art and the fact that it doesn't just have a few comics, it also includes exclusive art and "making of" features. Cassandra's art is easily recognizable, specially for her amazing ability to draw hair. This book shows how her range goes from simplistic and silly to gorgeous works of art that anyone would love to hang in their living room. The comics themselves are focused on humor, with a half-realistic/half-cartoony art style. Despite that, there's a lot of detail in many of them. It's very obvious that Cassandra really enjoys drawing and you can see how her art has evolved throughout the years. I fully recommend the book. I also recommend you follow Cassandra's work in social media. She's a really good artist and deserves the support and encouragement.

Overall it was fantastic, nice quality, funny stories, and a great book if you want to learn more about drawing your own comics. Also Cassandra Calin ( the author ) has included some pretty helpful tips about drawing comics, from her most frequently used materials to how she comes up with her art! I did however expect there to be a few more unseen comics, but it was still really good. The book and it's cover had a dent in the top right corner, it could have just been a delivery issue but i'm not sure!

She is a really great artist and you can feel inspired seeing how she started and how much she has improved during the years. And you also can enjoy a selected comics from her who are also included in this book and the step by step of creating this.

Lo compré como regalo. El libro es de tapa dura y viene con una caja/sobrefunda para guardarlo, también ilustrada. Como dice la descripción, contiene ilustraciones, tiras cómicas, etc, de varias etapas de la artista. La verdad es que es una recopilación muy interesante. Recomendada para la gente que le guste el diseño y la ilustración. Además, llegó mucho antes de la fecha que me decía Amazon.
