This is the only French/English dictionary you will ever need
This dictionary has excellent definitions which is great but they have thousands of phrases, idioms and detailed explanations and examples that other dictionaries don't have. It is easy to use and well organized.

Great Study Aid
I have two other dictionaries at home, but was frustrated because I am taking a beginner French class and I often couldn't find the words I was looking for. Then I searched for a better French dictionary and read some helpful reviews and purchased the Larousse. I am so glad I did. This dictionary has a small footprint but is relatively thick so would be unwieldy to carry along if you are traveling, but I couldn't be happier with it as a home resource for homework. Not only does it give you the definition of a word, but various examples on how the word is used in different contexts, very useful for students of a new language.

Good Dictionary To Add To Reference Book Colleclion
This is an excellent dictionary. I like the format and the content is organized very well. I am trying to further my knowledge of French so I wanted a dictionary to complement my language course Living Language -French which also happens to be a very good product.

Good reference for French - English transliteration
Bought this to take to Africa and was very helpful when I had enough time to sit down and look things up. Obviously not a traveler's pocket dictionary, but I was intending to use it to transcribe training material from English to French. Google Translate was much easier if less accurate to use. The included pronunciation guide was very helpful. Also useful when working with French speakers as it works to look up English translations. Perhaps the most helpful feature is the sample phrases for the words with multiple usage.Very helpful reference for someone who is past elementary French and wants to advance to reading literature. Do not buy as a travel dictionary, this is much more useful for academic or instructional purposes where you have time to cross-check for particular words or phrases.

A Very Good French-English Dictionary
A dictionary with a rich selection of vocabularies, good translation, hard cover, good dimension to hold on the hands, good price, overall, perfect.

Larousse French-English Dictionary
Great little dictionary. It leaves a small footprint, but it is VERY thick. That being said, the dictionary is a great reference for words on the spot during French class. I am a college student taking my second year of French, and it has been extremely useful. There's also a ton of useful cultural information in sidebars throughout the book, which has saved me on a number of occasions. My only problem with the book is that there are no visible indicators on the sides as far as alphabetical location and the split between english-french and french-english are. This makes it a bit harder to find specific things, especially when time is an issue. Other than that, great product for a great price!

Perfect
Perfect book for a beginning French student. Easy to use for study. Pronunciation cues are very helpful. I wouldn't take it on a trip as it is cumbersome, but is a great at home companion when practicing French speaking. I am happy with my choice.

very simple and clear to use, good stuff!
I have just started French course with OU and, though the University recommend some dictionary which is smaller than my hand, I decided to set myself with some really good dictionary. It is essential to take a good look around, as in each book shop you are gonna find at least 7 different french-english and vice vera dictionaries.. and after 10 min you will be lost which one is gonna be the best for you.Everyone who studies languages knows that at least 30% of the information comes from dictionary, so its worth it to take a time and choose the right one, which works well for you.Myself, I like simple and plain stuff, no colors in it as colors defocus me while reading [so, all Collins master works are out for me].Larousse is plain black, with soft, recycled grey paper. Except the Words expressions, it has an extra bit of information like short notes about the Culture [set in small boxes, which compounds well on the page], numbers [including ordinal numbers], days of week, hours, phonetic alphabet, weights and measures and even currency [British, American and Euro].All that do work for me. Absolutely great is the extra part at the end- "Conjugaisons" with 116 verbs and their conjugations through the tenses.. Well, its more than enough for person who has just started the french journey, hopefully, with a success at the end!

It's good but not perfect
It's good but not perfect, obviously so because it's abridged, but good enough and light enough to carry around with me.

Original and best
This is the original and best English/French dictionary. The only drawback is the weight!

Great French-English Dictionary
After 30 years of use, my high school dictionary fell apart, forcing me to look for a new one. I wanted to replace it with an updated version of something similar - a comprehensive dictionary that went beyond the basic pocket variety which falls short on vocabulary, but I didn't want a massive hardcover. This dictionary strikes the right balance. So far, it's been able to provide all the words I've needed to look up, masculine and feminine adjective endings, samples of words or phrases in sentences if it's a word that has many meanings or ways to use it. The dictionary uses a decent point size so it's easy to read and while it's definitely not a small pocket-size book, it's still easy to carry around or find room for on a shelf. Overall, a great French-English dictionary.
