Have been using these brushes for years.
The advantage of the combination of plastic bristles with little nubs on the ends and boar bristles is that the nubby bristles kind of stimulate the scalp and the boar bristles distribute your natural oils from your scalp to your hair, adding shine and de-tangling. With waist-length hair, this is especially important.

Warning: brush has little balls on end of plastic bristles
I had first bought a Bass medium oval mixed bristle brush with a wood handle and loved it BUT it specifically stated on the packaging that it was for dry use only. I need to wet my hair down every morning or else it looks like I stuck my finger in a light socket. So I used it with water anyway and the brush is starting to crack. So... I decided to try to find the same brush with a plastic handle and had thought I found it. This brush unfortunately had little plastic balls on the end of the plastic bristles... which I am specifically trying to avoid because my thin, aging hair is getting thinner and those little balls just rip my hair out more than any other type of brush. I kept the brush and use it when I get a particularly nasty tangle but that's about it. Still searching for that illusive perfect brush lol

I didn’t spend hundreds for a great brush!!!
I really wanted a Mason Pearson brush for a long time, since it’s the holy grail of brushes. I just couldn’t fathom paying hundreds of dollars for one. I was watching a YouTube video and one of the gals said that this reminded her of the Mason Pearson, for the price I figured I’d give it a try. I don’t have extremely thick hair. More fine hair but lots of it, I love this brush get down to the scalp. I don’t really know how many wonderful things I can say about a brush! I do think it’s great, and I love that I didn’t spend hundreds of dollars on it!!!

... that's not a big deal for me- I've got pretty straight "non- tangly" hair
The little nodes at the end of the brush do pull your hair a bit but that's not a big deal for me- I've got pretty straight "non- tangly" hair. What's a real bummer is that I've had it for a few weeks and I can see cracks on the inside of the back of the clear part or the paddle. Not sure what that is about. I hope it doesnt

The plastic bristles scratch a bit too hard
This brush helped me out when I was transitioning to co-washing, as it helped redistribute the oils near my scalp down the hair shaft. However, the brush I got had long, plastic bristles with balls at the end that scratched my scalp. The plastic bristles are supposed to help the brush actually get through your hair, but the plastic bristles are longer than the boar bristles and they're a bit sharp.

Works well but scratches scalp a little
The brush I received was slightly different from the one pictured. The handle was actually a clear plastic, not black, which didn't really matter to me. The brush is okay, it's a little scratchy but it does serve its purpose. It seems like it distributes the oils down to the tips and doesn't tug when it reaches the knots. For the price, I'm not going to complain.

Durability and high performance in a hair brush
The combination of wild board and nylon bristles creates just the right tactile experience -- difficult to explain until you've experienced it for yourself. I bought this brush to replace my old Bass nylon bristle brush, which I got in a health food store and which lasted for around 10 years before it began falling apart. These are high quality brushes that will hold up for many years; they're worth the investment.

Glad I ordered it
Love this brush. It feels great on the scalp. Whether the softer wild boar bristles actually gets oils to the ends of your hair I can't say. This size is perfect for my short coarse straight hair. Since it feels good, I am brushing my hair more often and more rigorously and perhaps with time I will notice scalp oils moving to the ends of the hair.
