No which is why I purchased it.

does this iron get as hot as linen and cotton require?

Yes in fact is does. There are six (6) heat settings. The 5th is for cotton fabrics and the 6th is for linen fabrics.

I have no idea where it is made. I returned it as it had an USA plug fitting and it was too expensive to buy an adapter to use in the UK. Also it was not very good quality and the dials were very cheap plastic.
