what are the differences between the red top(which i have) and the white top, and the platinum top?

Thanks for your interest in Korky. We are happy to provide a more detailed explanation. The red cover is our WaterWISE valve with built-in leak detection to prevent against flapper leaks. The white cover is our QuietFILL valve designed for 3.5+ gallon per flush toilets. The silver cap is our QuietFILL Platinum valve designed to fit 99% of toilets and the most universal option available. I have a Korky 528 MP it makes a hissing noise, what can I do?

I'm not 100% sure but the hissing might be coming from a tiny leak in the valve. There is a fair amount of water pressure going to the valve and if there is a tiny leak it could cause a noise like you are describing. If the leak is large it will sound more like running water. If the valve is more than 6 or 7  years old it may need to be replaced. You should be able to buy a new one from any hardware chain store for less than $10. I paid $7.99 for mine at Home Depot. You can also order on line but will have to pay for shipping. If you call Korky customer service at (800) 528-3553 they will determine what is causing the noise and walk you through on how to make an adjustment or how to replace the valve yourself. If you're even just a little bit handy you should be able to take care of it without calling a plumber.
