Good quality, not great
Good quality, not great, but definitely good. Would consider buying again.Overall the stand is fine. Probably the worst part of the experience was shopping for these stands online. Of course, no one has stands this size on display, at least in Manhattan. So if you want to comparison shop you are left to looking online. Aquarium stands still seem to be a backwater (pun intended I guess) and no one puts a lot of effort into selling them. The information provided is very scant and sometimes just ridiculous. Let's assume, if you are buying 6 foot tank stand you are at least a moderately serious aquarium hobbyist. This ain't going to be a 10-gallon guppy tank in some kid's bedroom (not there is anything wrong with guppies). So, you are going to have a lot of equipment you are trying to squeeze into a very small space under your tank stand. The second thing you want to know, after the outside dimensions of the stand of course, is the inside dimensions of the stand. Will my sump and protein skimmer fit? Can also I get my CO2 canister under the stand? Good luck. I was not able to find this on the manufacture's website or anywhere. In addition, why don't they spend a few minutes highlighting the important features of the stand with some pictures and words? Nowhere in the description of the AGA stand, for example, do they explicitly state the color of the stand. AGA has Black and Oak. When ordering something this large you would like to be 100% sure you're getting the right item. I've seen plastic spoons sold with more aplomb. If you want an example of ridiculous just look at the description for the 72" Perfecto Aquarium Stand (the closest product comparison). The description is for a birdcage. A customer pointed this out to the seller in Nov 2014. As of 12/21/2015 the description has not been corrected. Is someone really going to plunk down $500 and receive a huge piece of furniture only to find out the picture was wrong and description right? or visa versa I guess if you were looking for a birdcage. Is it that hard to fix the description of the item? How serious can this seller be? Below is a cut and past copy of the description and the link: Perfecto Manufacturing APF68723 Majesty Stand for Aquarium, 72 by 18-Inch, Black "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Great way to give your bird valuable playtime outside its cage All-natural wood perch and firm metal stand with premium powder-coated finish Ideal for small or medium-sized companion birds"Comparison and run down. I actually have an older Perfecto stand from around 2006 or 2008 so the model clearly might have changed in the intervening years. Both stands are made of solid pine with a plywood floor. There are slight differences, however. With the Perfecto stand the tank sits on the support braces and is about 1/4" below the surrounding outside molding or railing. You can see this if you look carefully at the picture. There is a slight offset between the tank and the stand. With the AGA stand the tank sits directly on top of the stand giving it a cleaner or more flush look. It also provides the tank with a more even point of contact since it sits on the railing all the way around. With the Perfecto you can actually run your finger under the tank until you get to the support brace. This also makes the overall dimensions of the AGA about 1" smaller in length and width. Big deal? Don't know. Just pointing it out.A major difference, however, lies in the floor or base of the stand. In the Perfecto, the floor rests directly on the floor of the room. On the AGA the plywood base or floor is raised about 2" giving you a 2" space under the stand. Now, perhaps this can have a good side providing a little air space between the stand and the floor in case of an inevitable spill. Don't really know. However, the major downside is that it cuts of 2" from the space available under your stand. This can be very valuable real estate when you are trying to squeeze a protein skimmer under your tank. What are the numbers? Perfecto @27" under the stand. AGA @25" under the stand. Also, with the Perfecto base resting on the floor you don't really have to worry about whether the plywood is strong enough to support the weight of your sump and top-off reservoir. With the AGA this concern definitely comes to mind. There a few more slight differences. Both stands have the same number of vertical supports but they are distributed differently. On the Perfecto the vertical supports are placed together in the middle of the tank while on AGA they are spaced equidistantly apart about 24". This allows the Perfecto to have 2 double-doors, saloon style, while the AGA has three single doors. Not really a big deal in my book so far.Overall, I'd say the construction of the Perfecto is probably a little sturdier although I like the cleaner aesthetics of the AGA. And of course you wish you could combine the best of both.As to the finish I can't really compare an almost 10 year-old stand with a new one. So I'll just say the finish on the AGA is good. It is not perfect. It is pine. There some visible knots and some less-than-smooth surfaces. But is it pretty good. For the price I think I think they have done a good job. I imagine you can easily pay $1,000 or $2,000 for a piece of furniture this large. For $500 I'll take it.Shipping. The experience of purchasing a large item with a scheduled delivery time from Amazon went well, a little better than I expected. True, both deliveries came late after the scheduled delivery time but it is around the holiday season and I am sure these guys are busy and fighting heavy city traffic as well. But they came and delivered into the apartment no hassle, not curbside. They don't unpack or take away anything. It doesn't really clearly state that it is an inside delivery (not curbside) in the product description or when you check out. And of course since this Amazon there really is no one to call. You have to spend a lot of time poking around in the fine print and see if you can find something. I really wasn't able to but just pulled the trigger.Packing. Both items came undamaged so the packing was definitely adequate though not impressive. Probably because it is a large bulky box they both did come in pretty scruffed up. I was expecting some damage - chipped or dented corners. But no, they arrived in fine condition.I do hope a few sellers read this and improve their product descriptions. Both the Perfecto and AGA descriptions leave a lot to be desired. Overall purchasing these items online was definitely less than satisfying. So, that's the wrap.

Item showed up both broken and missing pieces.
If I could give this piece of crap negative stars, I would. Missing the canopy and the door is broken. It's going back!!
