Helikon-TexWindrunner Windshirt, Outback Line

Overall very nice, I will say it was thinner than I was expecting but I don’t feel like it’s necessarily misrepresented. Did take quite a while to receive as it shipped from the Netherlands so worth taking into consideration.

Ordered what I thought was a US Medium.The description and sizing chart photo show only US sizes.I received a EU medium/US Small, which is annoying since it already took while to receive the item and it’s not what I ordered.The jacket quality is good. It’s thin and light. I ordered the Flecktarn and the camo on the jacket is darker then NOS surplus Flecktarn pants.Since I got the wrong size, the no mentioning of EU size and I can’t use the jacket as a result, 1 star.Reached out to the seller about the sizing issue so I’ll update the review when I get the correct size and actually use the jacket.Update.Got a replacement jacket through a different vender. Return was easy and painless.The jacket is nice and late weight. Good for early morning hikes or when the wind picks up. I did a 10 mile hike in the mountains around the pacific coast and I didn’t over heat, and the jacket kept the wind off me. It’s a nice light packable jacket.Jacket does it’s job in heavy fog and is ok in “light rain”. It’s not really designed to be a rain jacket.Just make sure you order the right size. I ordered a EU Large and got a US Medium on my second try. It has plenty of room for layers underneath.Hope this is helpful!

The pencott greenzone camo is pretty close to the hiddenwoodsman rucksack just for comparison and the Leatherman for compact size comparison I'm super happy with the quality and all the features in the jacket I'm hoping it's waterproof enough but a easy fix with nikwax if not.. overall 7oz for 75$ can't beat that, pair this with an Ultralight fleece and you've got a ton of functionality and versatility love all my helikon-tex products the swagman roll the backpacks all excellent quality the sizing was right on I got the Large and it fits nicely with a lithe extra room which is my normal size

PROS: Ultralight and packable. Well ventilated for active activities and will shed VERY LIGHT precipitation. Good reinforcement at elbows. Pass through chest pocket is perfectly placed for easy access while wearing a pack with hip belt and the pocket dips about 4" below zipper level to retain small items if zippers are open. Pocket has mesh backing and will increase ventilation when unzipped. Pencott WILDWOOD pattern good for pine forests.CONS: Fabric is rather noisy, hunters and wildlife photographers would appreciate something quieter.Side waist snaps or a bit more elasticity at waist would facilitate donning/doffing over layers.I wish it where available in the original Pencott GREENZONE variant, which has ligher greens and offers better silhouette break up and blending in my region than WILDWOOD. The lighter greens and dark browns of that variant even work well with fall/winter leaves and exposed branches tree trunks.A QUIET WATERPROOF version for hunting, and/or a GREENZONE version of the excellent HELKION PONCHO would also be great additions to the lineup.

It fits well over Street clothes. Plenty of room in the torso for layers; not sure about the sleeves. I might order a size up to add more insulation. The large zip pocket is great. Packs up small & very light. Wore for work in freezing temps the other day. Huge difference in comfort due to wind blocking fabric. Thought I would have needed a fleece under it but didn't. Thinking about a size up to keep behind the seat in my personal vehicle. * the fabric is really thin. The weave looks strong. I haven't snagged it on anything yet so I'm not sure how it will hold up to thorns or the like. Seems like a "if you take care of it; it will take care of you".

Ordered a large and it fits perfectly.Quality product.

The PenCott Wildwood pattern is a personal favorite of mine. The Helikon Windrunner Windshirt jackets are high-quality pull-over half-zip windbreakers with a hood, a huge chest pocket accessible through large side-entry hand-warmer pockets, and several tabs for tightening/adjusting the waist, neck and hood. The are compressible into a small bag attached to the inside lumbar for packing away. Highly recommended if you're dealing with windy terrain and want somethin with state-of-the-art camouflage.

Der Windrunner schützt sehr gut gegen Wind, ist bequem und raschelt kaum. Lässt bei Grösse XXL genug Platz, um eine Fleece-Jacke darunter zu tragen; für mich (trage Grösse XXL) ist wohl zuwenig Platz um T-Shirt, Pullover, FleeceJacke (oder dickere Jacke) zu tragen; d.h. T-Shirt, Fleece-Jacke und Windrunner. DAFÜR hällt es dicht, d.h. man ist um die Lamellen unter dem Ellbogen froh.Etwas lästig ist die Verschnürung (Bund, Kapuze); das Nylon-Material wirkt sehr dünn, so "richtig zu machen" traue ich mich fast nicht, aus Angst die Verschnürungsösen auszureissen; aber mit genügend Vorsicht kriegt man das Ding zu ohne es zu beschädigen.Einziger Minuspunkt:es wäre schön gewesen, wenn der Windrunner mit einer kleinen Transporttasche (ev mit Molle, um sie aussen am Rucksack festmachen zu können) geliefert würde. So dünn das Material ist, so dicht man es packen kann - es nimmt hald doch etwas Platz weg; eine Tasche kann man zum Glück selber nachrüsten, aber ginge doch anders...Zur PenCott Wildwood:auf dem Nylon wirkt die Farbgebung ähnlich wie Greenzone auf 600D Cordura. Wirkt also "Grüner als das eigentliche Wildwood". Die Tarnwirkung (leider kein Fotos) ist auf alle Fälle super; ich deckte damit den Rucksack am (mit Gräsern bewachsenen (Misch)Waldrand ab - nach wenigen Metern kaum noch sichtbar. Abgelegt in Gras erkannte man zwar die Konturen noch, aber mit zunehmender Entfernung (ca 40m) und man erkennt keinen Unterschied zum Hintergrund mehr (Ausnahme: viele Mohnblumen - da würde Alpenflage glänzen). Wichtig: die Kontur wird nicht aufgebrochen; man sieht deutlich "da ist was" (denkt "Hügel", "Baumstumpf"), aber dieses Etwas verschmilzt farblich mit dem Hintergrund.Ideal für unsere Breitengrade wäre vermutlich wenn bei Wildwood das helle Grün von Grenzone, und das dunkle Braun aus Badlands verwendet würde...

Der Windrunner lässt sich klein und Kompakt verstauen wodurch er in keinem Rucksack auffällt.Gleichzeitig ist es ein super Ausrüstungsgegenstand, gerade im mittel und höheren Gebirge, wo das Wetter schnell mal umschlägt und der Wind zunimmt oder es auch mal regnet.Schnell drüber ziehen und man ist ganz gut geschützt.Natürlich ist das hier keine Goretex Jacke, mit der man auch bei lang anhaltendem Starkregen trocken bleibt. Man kann aber die Wasserdurchlässigkeit nochmal weiter reduzieren wenn man den Windrunner imprägniert und dadurch zusätzlich Wasserabweisend macht.Worüber man sich trotzdem im klaren sein muss, ist, dass das Material nur dünnes Nylon ist. Das Ist nicht das strapazierfähigste. Man sollte möglichst vermeiden an Dornen oder Felsen entlang zu streifen weil man sonst sicherlich schnell Löcher drin hat.Ansonsten kann ich den Windrunner bis jetzt empfehlen.

Habe den kleinen leichten Windblocker immer in meinem Angelrucksack, wenn dann doch mal Wind aufkommt und es kühler als erwartet wird, ist der echt praktisch, wiegt nichts und braucht keinen Platz. Dabei bringt er deutlich mehr als ich erwartet habe. Top!OutdoorInidividualist.net

Wunderbar leicht, trägt kaum auf und die Farbe ist genial. Regen hatte ich noch keinen, bin gespannt was sie durchlässt. Was fehlt ist eine Tasche in welche man das Teil zum Transport einrollen kann. Hab mir ne kleine Molletasche gekauft. Am Gürtel oder Bauchtasche und das Teil ist immer dabei wenns mal ungemütlich wird

Eigentlich super Teil.Aber....Die Reißverschlüsse 😔😔😔Zu klein...Wenn man bei kaltem Wetter draußen ist.und die Finger kalt sind.Ist es eine Herausforderung.Die Taschen zu schließen.Weil sie sich, auch dauernd in den Stoff fressen.Ansonsten top winddicht undSie hält tatsächlich einen leichten Regenschauer stand.Ich trage normal XL.Hier habe ich leider genommen und sie passt.Kann sogar noch einen hoddyDarunter tragen.
