Top shoe
These have a heavy mountain sole. If that is what you want they are brilliant.

The “beast” of approach shoes
Great, tough approach shoes.Own a number of pairs of approach shoes, preferring them to boots for the majority of mountain excursions. The Mountain Trainers aren’t as grippy as my Five Ten Tennie’s or La Sportiva TX4’s, but as the rubber isn’t as soft should last a lot longer - they are still an awful lot better than most boots and can easily accomplish hard scrambles/easy climbs.Sole is intentionally quite stiff so gives great confidence on rockier terrain, and are better suited to this environment than for general countryside walks. Yet to test waterproofing but would envisage this would be fine.Would have given 5 stars but first pair had defect in lacing eyelets but were promptly exchanged by Amazon.Recommended for scrambling, via ferrata, and any other more gnarly mountain adventures.

Well built shoes slightly stiffer than the rest - which is good
4th or 5th pair of these shoes including previous version. Slightly stiffer than alternatives, which at 95 kg means i can wear across rough ground, and even scree, and although I'd generally prefer boots for that, these work well.Wear them pretty much every day except in snow, heavy rain or high summer heat. This means that I get through about a new pair a year.Salewa boots tend to fit me; the heel is narrower than Merrels, Millet, and fits me firmly, and forefoot fits me well - but may be a challenge, I suspect for people with wider feet.Salewa seem to measure about a half size smaller than others, so I need 46.5 whereas in other brands (Scarpa, La Sportiva) I take a 46. so best try before buying. If you're after a soft, pavement shoe this is not it. If you want a stiffer shoe you can use in warmer weather or on rough ground, then look no further.

Great stiff soled activity shoes
I have the boot version so was drawn to the trainers. Whilst they are very comfortable the sole is just as stiff as the boots which is a bit much for my requirements. I changed to the lite version which suited better.

Good quality but to small
I like the style and quality but would have to order a size bigger
