The GG Paper Towel Holder is lovely. However, like others have mentioned, the top does not fit securely on the towel holder. I remedied the issue by affixing a compound used for bonding things together. Before I used actual compound, I used a temporary fix to see if my theory would work, which it did. Therefore, I used the actual compound carefully and it worked. The first temporary compound was Durham's Water Putty which held-up remarkable well. The second and finial compound used Epoxy Super Weld, which permanently bonds just about anything, however used this around the very bottom (stem) of the top. I was careful in applying it (like when using Durham's Water putty). You have to let it dry "not" in the towel holder, because there is a chance to bond it together or get stuck. I applied it around the stem of the top in small amounts, basically in layers and then check for fitting (size) to holder so it will not be too much or too little to fit properly. If at anytime it appeared to be to much I quickly removed the Epoxy Super Weld since there is a very short time to work with this material (warning it hardens quickly). I recommend wearing plastic gloves when working with the Epoxy Super Weld because it can be messy. Remember, the Epoxy Super Weld is permanent, mix on a paper plate or something you do not mind ruining and be sure you use something disposable to mix with like plastic knife that can be tossed when you are finished with the project.

Very nice paper towel holder for displaying on a table or to class up the countertop. I bought this one because it matches our kitchen table perfectly! One slight modification you'll need to make if you purchase this item. Previous buyers have complained about the loose piece that rests on top. I remedied this by taking some brown electrical tape and wrapping around the pin. Just a few times around and problem solved. The top fits snugly.

The slot in the base provides little benefit in controlling the tear of each sheet. It was bought for this but does no better than what we replaced.

Happy with my purchase! I don't really understand the other reviews complaining about the part sitting on top without a screw. It is heavy enough that it really doesn't move. It also has a slit in the back where the paper towels pull out from so that works. I just don't see a problem with any of it and my big paper towels even fit in it well.
