The perfect rain riding jacket!
Whoa. This jacket is awesome. I am 5’5, 130lbs, wear a size 0/2, xsmall or small in tops. I bought this in both a size 4 and a 6 to see what would be best. The 4 I can get on, and it has a nice tailored fit, but I wouldn’t be able to fit much more than a T-shirt under it. I’m going with the 6, which is slightly larger and provides just enough room for a sweatshirt underneath.Details:There is a zipper on the back tail that you can zip open, and there is extra fabric there to cover your saddle/rear end while riding. There are 6 good sized pockets on the front of the jacket. Zip pockets on either side of the chest, front flap pockets, and side pockets under the flap pockets. The jacket is lined (with a soft stretchy fabric), and the arms have thumb holes. There are cinches on the sides that you can adjust with snaps to tighten the waist more. (I found the tightest setting on the size 6 is about the same as the loosest setting on the size 4.)The hood is removable. I haven't tried it on with my helmet yet, but it doesn’t seem to me like the hood is big enough to go over a helmet (which is unfortunate, since this is a riding jacket. Still, this jacket is so great that I’m not deducting a star). The navy blue is very dark, almost black. This looks great on and is definitely something you can wear around town as well as out on the trails. I haven’t tested this in the rain yet, but it looks and feels like it will be waterproof (I sure hope so, I’m going on a week long trail ride across Iceland this summer, and plan on bringing this with me. I’ll update this review when I’m back.) I plan on getting a lot of use out of this jacket, and will use it for both riding and as a shnazzy looking trench.Update: I’ve not had an opportunity to wear this riding in the rain yet, but I HAVE worn it walking through Boston in heavy rain, and it kept me dry and warm. I’ve gotten tons of compliments on it. Love this jacket.Update #2: I worse this jacket for a week long riding trip across Iceland. We had torrential downpours one day, and this baby kept me dry all day! (A solid 7 hours of riding). I got so many compliments on it, too. Everyone else wore rain gear provided by the outfitter, and they were SOAKED. Also, the hood DOES fit over a helmet, but makes it a bit hard to turn your head when it’s up.
