Zyxel 5-Port Gigabit Web Managed Switch,, UK Plug [GS1200-5]

Great managed 1Gbps Ethernet switch, easy to install and use, with 4 PoE ports and 4 normal ports, with UK plug and power supply. Good VLAN support, with a choice of 4 port-based VLANs or 8 VPID-based VLANs. Good construction using metal case with no fan, (so passive cooling) makes it very quiet. Only downsides are: no "user id" - just a password to gain access, so cannot share duties with others unless the single password is shared and somewhat weird choice of initial switch IP for management but at least it's well advertised, with pretty good documentation too (although page 10 of UserGuide says it has a power switch - mine does not). Overall rating -recommended.

Easy to set up and pretty good so far. Definitely worth a look at if you need a managed switch.

It's cheap, the metal case is nice, it does the trick, but there are some annoying limits: - Password limited to 15 characters - No apparent SSH or Telnet interface - Absurdly short web interface timeout and can't change - Can't change management VLAN from 1 And these are just some of the most basic limitations. But it's cheap and will do the trick for most home users at a very low price, just a shame the software doesn't allow a bit more.

Very good Switch. No technical skills required.

In the beginning, it worked okay, but after a while, it started having issues with giving the full speed from the router. I have searched the issue and apparently, I am not the only one having this issue. I even bought a cat6 wire just for this and it is still the same. I have even disabled all settings making it a basic switch and still nothing. I would suggest not buying this one but investing money in a better one !!!

Needed an inexpensive managed switch to split out port-based VLANS a few places on my Ubiquiti network. These (I bought a couple) and the 8 port version fitted the bill. Pretty easy to set up (once understood by a newbie to VLANS) and seem to be working flawlessly. Remember to turn off the DHCP client as the last bit of configuration if part of a wider network or you're likely have to reset and start again...

I have this managed hub for completing link aggregation for my NAS, it’s excellent.
