Its the Holland
Great little model, no one else makes them. The US Navy used these very early, this model is British, but they’re the same. Very nice kit.

Here now from our friends in Ukraine comes an excellent kit in 1-144th scale
A rare kit in any form the Holland sub was the first practical sub in many navies, Here now from our friends in Ukraine comes an excellent kit in 1-144th scale. My thanks to the folk who made this as it fills a hole in my collection. Very well done, it builds up into a very nice model. I heartily recommend this kit.

A good model kit
It is rare to find a plastic model kit of an early Holland type submarine. The model itself is well detailed; however the forward part of the hull deck casing is a little too narrow where the casing meets the pressure hull. Otherwise it’s an accurate kit with no other modification needed unless you’re a stickler for 100% accuracy. A fine-tipped tweezers are a necessity for handling the kits tiny parts, which are easy to loose once they’re detached from the plastic sprue. However, there are a few small problems; the instructions can be vague at times. There are two brass parts (Pe 3 & Pe 9) that I was unable to figure out where they went on the hull. Furthermore, Step 2 in the instructions (Parts number 5, 6, 22, 37 for assembling the rectangular exhaust box) should be moved to Step 1. The whole exhaust assembly then needs to be put in one hull half before the two hull halves are glued together. The hull halves need tabs glued on the insides to ensure an accurate fit to each other; tabs can be easily made out of scrap pieces of plastic. So basically this is a well-detailed model kit of a submarine you usually can’t find in stores. The kit has modification potential since Holland-type submarines were used by numerous other navies: This model is going to form the starting point of an early Swedish Holland-type sub that I plan to scratch build in the future.
