I like the smaller one better
This thing is BS compared to the smaller 3200mah slim with included micro-usb dongle thing. This is my fourth Anker battery purchase, so that's why I say this.I bring these things around and my friends always end up borrowing them or commenting on how they need one so I just give them out as gifts.Anyway, the older 3200mah slim allows you to charge the battery while charging your device. This does not. Also, the way that the dongle thing plugs in is awkward and I would not be surprised if it stopped working after a few months of use. You have to forcibly pull the dongle out which can lead to you pulling on the entire wire thing (which I have done). I mean, it seems sturdy, but just also another point where it can break. Also, sticking the dongle back into it's port is awkward. Not quick and easy like the jumper cable type of design with the 3200mah slim battery. Some pros to this is that it seems Anker has stepped their game up on the USB adapaters. They're much more sleek and don't have unnecessary parts like the adapters that come with the 3200mah slim.I can make a video review for this showing the differences between the two batteries if someone is interested to more clearly show what I mean, but even though I love Anker products, this one just seems not well thought out.EDIT/UPDATE: all I have to say is that Anker's customer service is top notch. They contacted me, sent me the older model that I'm referencing above, refunded the difference for the product, and paid for return shipping. They even had to ship it out twice bc USPS lost the original shipment. If you're talking retail, Anker is basically out about $50 just to make sure I was happy. And honestly, they didn't have to do any of it. Even though I wasn't impressed with this product, I was OK with it and would have been fine without the replacement. You have made me a customer for life Anker. I'm still going to leave this at 4 stars as I truly believe this product is not well thought out, but to each his own.

Impressive External Battery
My new Anker Astro Slim2 external battery arrived last week and I am happy to evaluate this very nice addition to my current hungry Galaxy Nexus phone.A bit of history first. The prime reason for the Galaxy Nexus is because it is a Google device and second for navigation and geocaching. Both navigation and geocaching is pretty intense on the battery drain because of the constant application and GPS calls. Even with my OEM extended battery, the charge life is less than impressive.Enter Anker. After receiving an Astro3e for Christmas, my field charging problems were over. The Astro3e is a battery that performs at the peak of external batteries, however in the field, it is a bit bulky and has some weight. For the performance aspect of the Astro3e, the trade off is well worth it.Being so impressed with the battery, I contacted Anker to ask a few technical questions and received a detailed answer along with the opportunity to test and evaluate their new Astro Slim2 battery. I was not disappointed.Upon opening the shipping package, the first thing noticed was the way the battery is packaged, allowing the entire battery to be seen without the need to open the package. The battery has a great feel and the matte finish on the exterior is a nice plus. Other things that are a real plus are how thin and lightweight the battery is with a pretty small footprint for a battery with a whopping 4500ma of charging power. With the flat, nesting output cable, you don't have to worry about keeping up with the interface cable. There is a nice selection of adapters included for connection to different types of equipment. Also noted was the way the battery senses its state condition. The on/off power is sensed by whether the output cable is connected to itself or an appliance. This is especially nice not having a physical power switch to be concerned with.Out of the package, the charge on the battery was in the 50-75% range. The charging completed in about 35 minutes using a 1 amp charger and provides more than 2 charges to my phone from a nearly dead state. For anyone that gets out on a bike, hiking, camping or in the field away from an available charger, the Anker Astro Slim2 will make a great addition to your gear. The light weight and small footprint, coupled with the great performance of the charge makes this battery a winner. One change I would suggest making is to the nomenclature on the accessory box. Rather than having it printed as "Accessory Bag", it would be better identified as "Accessory Box". The word "Bag" is a bit confusing. The Astro Slim2 is a great battery and will be well used in many applications. The product reviewed was provided to me at no cost for the purposes of review. I received no other compensation, and my review is my honest opinion of this product.

It charges my phone on the go!
So, I use my phone when cycling. On my Samsung Gaxaxy S2 I turn on my GPS, use the Endomondo app with the GPS, and use Google Music to listen to playlist. For my long bike rides of 40-50 miles the internal battery has enough juice to make it. For longer trips however it doesn't. The downside to this is that using the GPS I can't record rides lasting longer than about 50 miles. I have to kill my phone and swap batteries and wait while it all restarts. For a big bicycle rally this is too much time and way too stressful. Then later you have to combine your rides on the back end -- a HUGE pain!I bought this Anker to hopefully solve this issue. I tried it this past weekend and it worked great. First of all the unit is just a bit narrower than my phone, but otherwise it is about the same size. It fits in my front speaker bag that I carry on my handlebars along with my phone. On my ride this Saturday I stuck it in the bag, but waited until my main battery on my phone got down to about 40%. Bear in mind I am running the GPS, the Endomondo app, and Google Music (AA batteries power my stereo bag speakers). My biggest concern was would the Anker give me enough juice to charge up the phone while this was going on -- it did. About an hour and a half later I was up to 100% and never turned anything I was running off. I unplugged the charger and finished my ride. This is a great product, its weight is so light that its negligible, and I highly recommend it, especially if you are a cyclist and need a very lightweight fairly small charger to carry around.

Anker Astro Slim2
I previously bought the older 3200 Anker external battery with the built in torch and cable for charging an Acer E350 and the Acer S500.This worked perfectly so was interested in a higher capacity version. The 4500ma Astro Slim2 is slim and lightweight (115 grams) with a matt finish.I liked the built in cable which provided enough length to charge the phone but still allows chargingeven when making calls etc. When you remove the cable the battery capacity indicator illuminates. The Slim2 provides enough capacity for the Acer S500 on GPS/3G using CoPilot guidance all the way to Cornwallso I am more than happy with the overall performance. The only slight niggle is that the USB connector part of the Slim2 is rather wide so it meant having toremove the protective case on my phone to fit the cable.Overall I am impressed with the Slim2 and it certainly does the job. Excellent value for money and well made.Recommended.

Compact, does what it's supposed to.
I recently did the off-road London-to-Brighton bike ride with 2 GPS apps running, 1 transacting data constantly, on my SGS3. I already had a larger 4300mAh battery fitted to the phone but guessed it would be pretty much flat by the end- I bought the Anker to recharge it at the end so I could tell the missus I was still alive. This did exactly what it was supposed to- got my phone up to about 80% which is about right (70% efficiency seems to be accepted)- might have done more in reality as the live GPS app was still running to track friends who were still riding.Since then I've also used it to charge the standard battery from flat, and it looks like it'd do that about twice. The item itself appears well-built- the integral lead is particularly handy (but only for phones with a micro-USB port of course) but even if that fails there's the standard USB port. As in the photos for the item, it's very similar to SGS3 dimensions so easy to store alongside.Very happy.

Perfect! Just what I was after!
A bit of background, I recently purchased an LG Nexus 5 and decided to look for an emergency charger due to the fact the N5 has a non-removable battery. I wanted something that was slim in size so I could slip it into my pocket, as well as having enough capacity for at least one full charge. Needless to say after much deliberation I decided to go with the Anker Astro Ultra-Slim. Its small size is perfect, easily fitting in my pocket without me noticing it's there, and with enough capacity for two full charges and the inclusion of a built in micro-USB cable, it is just about as close to perfect as I can imagine! I'll now take you through some of the main features:DESIGN:The Ultra-Slim is indeed very slim, a touch thinner than my Nexus 5 for example. I have also compared it to my previous phone, a Samsung Galaxy S3, and again it is no thicker. It is also not large, being about the size of a medium sized smartphone. I will warn that this will lead to some confusion, as it has done for me. Several times I have gone to take my phone out of my pocket an ended up putting the Ultra-Slim to my ear!It is made out of a tough and durable plastic shell with rubber around the edges that I would quite confidently say will protect it from and drops and falls. It has a matt black finish and the plastic is lightly textured, giving it a somewhat premium look, although this plastic does appear to be able to be scratched easily. I will admit that I have subjected my Ultra-Slim to a somewhat unorthodox initiation, subjecting it to some of the harshest environments I can perceive it being in. Environments such as a pocket full of loose change and keys, laying on a table, being pushed off the table onto carpet/wooden flooring/concrete, and I have even dropping it from head height onto concrete to test it's durability should it fall from your hand if you are making a call whilst charging your phone. This particular test offered no ill effects whatsoever, proving that the rubber edges do well to protect the device.PERFORMANCE:I have to say, when I first fully charged my Nexus 5 using the Ultra-Slim I first thought that my Nexus's battery was faulty, as I managed to achieve a full charge in less than 2 hours. But after looking online, and seeing how long my Nexus's battery lasted, I can see that the Ultra-Slim does in fact charge extremely fast! I am very happy about this as this is just what an emergency charger should do! I can also just about get two full charges from the Ultra-Slim which is nice, and being able to get two full charges from such a small device is impressive. You may or may not know that you can charge two devices at the same time from the Ultra-Slim, as even though it has a built in micro-USB cable, it also includes an auxiliary USB port, allowing you to plug in any conventional USB cable and charge your device from it. I also own a Nexus 7 2nd gen tablet, and have had no problems charging this using the Ultra-Slim (Although it does take longer, because the N7 has a larger battery and it requires a higher ampage to charge it quickly.)Overall I am very pleased with the Ultra-Slim, and will not hesitate to recommend this product to friends and family. I will also be on the lookout for more Anker products in the future. The Ultra-Slim has an excellent build quality, looks and feels great, and has amazing performance, and for the money it is an absolute bargain!

Get one!
Not only is the seller/manufacturer prompt with very swift delivery, this is a good piece of kit.You may have problems like me whereby after a year, the iPhone 4S and 4 battery drains. 1 short phonecall in the morning, and your battery level is down to 40-something percent and you struggle the rest of the day.Though Anker has several other portable power packs, I really liked this one. It basically is pretty much the same size as a iPhone 4 and 4S, in fact slightly smaller. What I liked about this over other models is not only the size, but it auto-switches on and off. Some of the packs in the other range have an big on/off button which is not great if you are throwing this into a bag.It is also sturdy; I dropped mine a few times and it remains fine. It has also take my iPhone 4s from 36% to 100% 4 times and has not needed a re-charge.I really like this product and I may buy another one for my partner, though right now, it is good enough for us to share!

My top purchase for travelling!
I have just returned from a 5 month trip with this device and I must say it was one of the best things that I bought!Never once was I left stranded in the middle of no where or at an airport with no battery. The two things that provided value for me were the form factor; it is similar in dimension to my phone which means I can have both together in one pocket. Sure there are higher capacity powerbanks but they are also not as pocketable. The second is the short micro USB that is ingeniously integrated into the device. This means that unlike other powerbanks, you don't need to carry a long cable around with you (there is also a standard USB socket)I bought the 4600mAh version... I feel that if I were to buy again I would opt for the higher capacity model as its the same size only with more juice.Overall, great design, great functionality and a must buy for when on long travel journeys IMO.Edit:Just a little pro-tip; A rubber silicone case for the Moto G phone fits this device like a glove if you want a bit of bump protection.

Security and convenience
Bought this to charge my iphone 5 which struggles to get through the day on a single charge. Although its usually OK I found I was not confident listening to the radio or my music feeling I needed to conserve battery just in case. Now I have it, I can use the phone to its full potential each and every day, all day.Its small and compact. Its well made, slips in a pocket and works.I haven't yet discovered how many charges it will give, but frankly it will give me at least two and I doubt i'd need more than one, so I could charge up the wife's phone too if need be. I do also have the largest version which is bulkier and which came with the Apple 'old connector' for charging my ipad2 but I had to buy an adaptor for the iphone5 for this one which drops it down a star.

Brilliant
I bought this simply because I was always looking for a wall socket to keep my phone charged on long days out. Especially if your out socialising and it's not always possible to charge in a car. This item measures and weighs about the same as an iphone 5 which I have. And although Anker supply some adaptors it is disappointing that you don't get a lightening adaptor for my phone. I knocked a star off for this reason only.Other that that a great buy and would highly recommend if you enjoy long days out at the pub.Just don't tell the wife you have it or you can't use the excuse "no battery left" when you forget to call her later in the evening.

Takes a long long time to charge up
Surprising because of it's relatively small capacity, that it takes so long to fully charge up, and also it rarely reaches the full 4-LED charge state. Only had it a couple of months and only charged it maybe 5-6 times since getting it. This is whether charged from a modern computer or by a beefy Kensington USB charger I have for my tablets and phones. So, I have to remember to leave it overnight to get charged. Other than that it's a great design. Nice and compact. Sometimes seems to "forget" it's charging something and turns itself off, but just need to unplug the charging device (the phone etc) for 10 secs and then reconnect it and then the battery wakes back up and carries on OK.

Great device - works like a dream
I've had this for a couple of weeks on recommendation from a friend. It's very simple to operate and use.You plug in the USB cable and let it charge until you have four led lights showing. Then you carry it around and use it to top up that battery on your smartphone which runs out mid-afternoon. You know the one I mean. The pictures do not do justice to how slim and light this thing is. It's much lighter and slimmer than carrying a charger around for your phone. So far it works like a dream.I'm using an iPhone 4S and in my informal tests I can get at least two charges out of the Anker battery. Well worth it for the price.

Brilliant product & customer service!
Bought this a few years ago and got some great use out of it over that time. It survived many trips to festivals and holidays providing me with vital charge on the go. Would suit an android phone perfectly as there is already a cable attached however I used it for my IPhone (via USB) and works just as well. It's small and lightweight so there was no issue in having it in my bag at all times.Unfortunately I had an issue with my charger (after well over a year of constant use) and emailed Anker to see if they could provide any assistance to my issue. The customer service was brilliant and I was issued a refund within a matter of days! (which i then used to buy another!)

Good design, awful cables and connections
I am not really satisfied with the product. I like the black matte finish, easy to hold, the charging speed is ok, and found no problems with the weight. But I found two problems: one is that, sorry for the words, cables are rubbish, they are of very poor quality, and do not fit well in my HTC One, they swing. I can fix that... buying other ones (that is a pity). The other problem is worse, and not amendable. I bought that particular model for the cable incorporated in the unit, I thought it would be very practical, but in the end, it has the same problem, it does not fit well in my phone usb port and most of the time it does not charges because it does not make good contact.Kind of bittersweet feeling about this device.

What every smartphone user needs in their work bag...
Use a GPS feature or constant Bluetooth and WiFi and most smartphones or devices like MiFis and they will fail to complete a day's service, it seems. This is a small, simple auxiliary battery-based charger the size of a 2nd phone. Includes a microUSB port but with a socket for a regular USB cable if you need miniUSB, for example. I use it as a backup for my Samsung Galaxy phone.I used this to power a multi-hour timelapse camera (Mobius and Little Cyclops) for day-long timelapse videos - lasted >8 hours!

Great product and great support
This device is a perfect size to slip into your pocket beside your phone or into your bag. It also charges super fast. The built in cable is much better than plugging one it, it sits discreetly in the device when not in use.I did have issues with this device later on in it's life but Anker's customer support team were hassle free and resolving my issue, I'd definitely rate them 5 stars

but I could be wrong) I'd defiantly recommend getting one
I bought two of these, one for me and one for a friend. Mine has held up perfectly and have had no issues. However the other one has stopped charging (I suspect the connection has just come a little loose, but I could be wrong)I'd defiantly recommend getting one, they're absolute lifesavers, though for a little extra cash you can get a bigger capacity now

One charge only
You can get about one full charge from empty or 14% HTC One from a single battery charge. It makes your phone really hot and causes lag and performance issues. Also the battery takes longer to charge fully than it would take to charge the phone. The technology has not caught up with smartphone application and usage. Suitable if you're in an emergency or on a night out and need a charge at the end of the night just to be sure.
