Great for cat that hates covered boxes, but one problem with order
Update: Still love this box, it is holding up nicely. Also a tip -if your cat pushes open the doors and kicks litter all over the place, you can solve this by taking a hairband and keeping it around the door knobs, this forces kitties to enter and exit through the DOOR and not make a mess.Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I have two cats, and one of them has always refused to use covered boxes. I picked this cabinet because it is bigger than most, and has a nice large opening on the side unlike many others. I also bought Precious Cat litter since it is supposed to be about as dust free as you can get and I wanted to make the box more inviting, at least initially. Worked like a charm, both cats took to box nicely. You will still want to put our a floor mat (I bought a pretty sort of "welcome mat" to put in front of the door) but this looks WAY better than looking at a litter box. You will still have to do some sweeping up of litter, but having a cabinet like this is a big improvement. Only issue we had is that the drawer did not come with the right pieces, we had two pieces designed for the same side, which means we couldn't install the drawer at all. However, we decided to just leave the drawer off, so that it's more spacious inside for our cat who hates covered boxes. We worry if we install the drawer it might feel too crowded for her anyway, so we will just deal with it. But I still have to knock off one star because of this issue, you should get what you pay for without having to call and complain. Also, one thing that helped with my cats transitioning to the new cat box is I have a system where I always have kept their food on top of a table that is directly over their litter box. I figure since they will never forget where there food is, they will also never be confused about where the litter box is. This system has worked GREAT. You can't keep food next to a cat box, or many cats won't want to eat the food (can you blame them?) but food and water above the box works great. So when this came, I just moved their food on top of the cabinet, and we didn't have a single accident. Glad I bought this. Just watch the pricing on this for awhile, it is pricey even with a good sale.

Only one thing could've made it better in my opinion...
This is a beautiful piece of furniture! Building it was a breeze, and I'm not the most handy guy out there. I built it, put the litter box inside, and put my cat in there then closed the doors so she knew where the box was and was forced to use the side entrance. She has no hesitation about using the box in here, and I haven't seen any signs of her trying to open the doors and come out the front. I did take the advice of a previous reviewer, however, and put a ponytail hair band over the knobs. I stole it from my sister. It's brown and blends in nicely with the furniture. Yeah, a rubber band would've done the trick too, but that looks uglier.I could probably give this 5 stars, but I lowered it to 4 only because I think one thing would've made it nicer. I think a slide out shelf on the bottom would've made it a bit more "user-friendly." This is a great product at a reasonable price in my opinion, but I would've paid another $20-25 probably for one with a slide-out shelf on the bottom. It's not difficult to clean the litter box, but the ability to pull it out would make it easier. Of course, then they'd have to put the magnetic door clasps somewhere else. Maybe I'm being picky here. I definitely don't regret the purchase, just thought I'd add my two cents about what would make this product go from an A to an A+.

Looks nice but...
I picked this up for a couple of reasons: first, I wanted to hide the litter box and I needed something to sit my tv on. This serves both purposes. I put this together myself, but it took well over an hour and a half - here's why. The directions are not the best and I had a hard time visualizing how the sides went onto the unit. Once I figured that out, it was pretty easy. The sides of the unit were very, very unstable no matter how hard I turned the screws. Finally, I figured out that if you put the back onto the piece, the sides stabilized, then it was fine. The back of the piece is somewhat flimsy - and I can certainly see that if you have a cat that stands up to do his business, the unit would be ruined in no time and I am quite certain that the back panel would soak up the odor. To solve this, I lined the entire piece inside with plastic and doggie pads, just in case. The drawer wasn't hard to put together and I would recommend that you do that first so that you can see how the sides fit on the base. Make sure you look for the two small holes on the bottom of the base - that's the front of the unit. Makes it much easier if you know where these go first. Once I got it put together, it looks terrific! But I agree with some of the other posters, it is not sealed in any way, if there is any accident inside of this unit and you don't line it, it would be ruined.
