Will this work via a usb?

If you can identify the positive and negative terminals in your USB adaptor I would have thought so. Bought this for a science experiment with my kids and it worked both as a motor and generator, we powered it off a 9V battery but it was quite slow - 4 in series did the trick though!

Motor with plain rod and no shaft key . Not useful

It is a very good motor and powerful but there is no holder for shaft key .. rather plain rod. I find it near impossible to attach anything to rotate. I am sorry might be some other way but I could not figure it out .. shaft key is must .
